I am camping at Marion county park for this years nationals, and I was thinking of bringing a golf cart to ride back and to the track. Is there any special permit you need to buy, or rules you need to follow? Do you have to watch out for the police? Thanks in advance.

Years ago golf carts were not allowed in Marion County Park.

I was wondering the same thing, Hate to hail it up there if I can not use it!! I heard you can cross the Main Hwy 14 on one and can maneuver around on the side streets on one.

Golf Cart Usage
According to Chapter 321, Section 247, of the Iowa Code, a golf cart shall not be operated on a primary road extension through the city (Highway 14 and Business 92 & 5). However, they can cross the primary road or highway. The carts must be equipped with a slow-moving vehicle sign and a bicycle safety flag and operate on the streets only from sunrise to sunset. An operator of a golf cart must possess a valid driver’s license and proof of recreational vehicle insurance if the cart is operated for use other than to/from or on a golf course. In addition to the stated restrictions, golf carts shall not be operated on Knoxville’s sidewalks, which are for pedestrian use only.

you can drive golf carts on the streets here from daylight to dark if you have a flag, slow moving vehicle triangle, and insurance, but the Marion County Park will not let you drive them on park grounds

We stayed at Marion County Park last year and saw a lot of golf carts going from there to the track. If you can't have them in the park, where did people keep them?

have been taking golf carts for 10 years now (not at Marion county park--so i have no info there) It is very handy to get almost anywhere you want to go. We even ride right up and park under the front grandstands during the daytime and shop and have a beer. can go virtually anywhere you want to go, just follow the rules, stay off the few roads you cannot drive down and stay off the sidewalks.
