Just read your comment about Workin Woody on your site. Hope the Outlaws don't do in Johnny Gibson and go with local announcers for their shows to cut costs. He is the best, and would be missed. Guess you have to cut costs somewhere though with the economy....

Sentimental value - yes. Outlived it's useful existence - yes - a LONG time ago. To be honored in the Hall of Fame in Knoxville - yes - clearly. Time marches on and Woody is one of those things. Get yer undies bunch at me all you want this is simply the facts. I deeply revere the past and Woody was a hero of mine but in the words of GP's favorite song it is clearly time to "Turn the page".

Cali boy wins it all ,then the WoO lets the veteran woody (who happens to be a cali boy) take the shaft? Horrible treatment and great loss to the sprint car drivers and those who like to see races clean and fast.

If waiting on a wrecker/push truck to pick up and push in/off a sprint car and fiddle freakin' around cuz they don't know the requirements to do it CORRECTLY and efficiently, losing Workin' Woody will drive you crazy.
The Knoxville push trucks do a GREAT job .... but I have been to so MANY other sprint car events and observed a Chinese fire drill on yellows for broken axles or flat tired cars (wrapped around a nerf bar.)
Also the big teams have engine winches in their trailer .... I can't count the number of times I saw 'Woody' winch a engine out and set the new one in (even for some big teams at times.)
I am sure 'Woody' did much more than the above .... these just what came to my mind real quick when I saw this post.
Good luck and enjoy a normal life 'Woody.'

I'd like to complain too, but its not my pocketbook paying for the Woodster. Hall of Fame, a great idea and how could a person vote no on this decision. The Woody doesn't actually pull any motors out anymore what with most having that capability at the hauler, or do they do still do that?
Lawlessness and liberalism equals Hell. NY City,
Detroit, Seattle, Chicago, Minnepolis, etc. We saw it.
Burning hundreds of buildings, a thousand assaults and
dozens of murders. Getting worser and worser.

So, in the last 2 months WRG has gotten rid of Tony V (PR guy) and Eric w/ Workin' Woody...
Kind of makes me wonder why....
For years the WoO had a PR guy and Workin' Woody when Uncle Ted ran the series. Sanctioning Fees certainly have not decreased since WRG took over from Boundless that took over from Ted.
Only thing that has changed as far as overhead goes....5 or 6 execs that sit in their offices (Brian Carter, Tom Deery, Ben Giesler, etc..) and more traveling support staff at the races...(not sure what they exactly do when they go to Sprint Car Tracks since places like WG and Knoxville still end up running the shows with their people).
Maybe they should have gotten rid of a couple of Execs and kept the PR Guy (if no one is writing press releases, there sure won't be anything drawing attention to the series on the web or in print) and Workin' Woody (outside of PA and Knoxville, they need it for a Push Truck if nothing else...).
Maybe they got Ford, GM, Toyota or Dodge to Sponsor the Series in 2011 and beyond so they are going to provide push trucks at all of their events........
Well, probably not....

The WoO drivers have been known to bypass the local safety/rescue crews and drive straight to Woody if the car was to encounter a fire, so now what are they gonna do?

There's no other way to put this. Cutting an icon due to budget constraints is akin to blasphemy!

I remember buying stickers from Carol when I was just a kid and watching Art in the seat of Woody for years. One of my fondest, but not best, memories was at the Gold Cup years ago when all the cars were pushing off. Art had pulled across the track on the backshute across turn 3 when Sammy in the TMC 1 ran into the back of Woody and flipped hard off turn 3 before they even got lined up....I remember Art being mad as hell....ha and so was I, being a Sammy fan.
So long Woody!
The older I get, the faster I used to be.

Seems like an opportune time for the ASCS to capitalize with an iconic symbol...

If things are so bad sans Ted could you give a total of how many checks have bounced and how much equipment has been seized since WRG took over??
