I am eagerly awaiting the new WoO game to become available for download on the PS3. I want to know one thing (from those who have played both games already)?
Is the new game better than the 2002 version?
Looking for yes or no answers here. Maybe rank it on a 1 through 10 scale. Lets stay away from how Posse gamers are better on their tracks but suck everywhere else or how Mark Kinser is wheeling a yellow school bus. Yes/No answers people. And GO......

Definitely better. If I remember it seems like I could simply gas it the whole time on PS2. I find myself letting off the gas alot more on the current version.
Could be better but worth the purchase!

I would put it on about equal ground with 2002.
Graphics wise, it blows 2002 out of the water. The lighting, car models, tracks, everything looks great.
Gameplay- They drive really similar, but this one requires a lot more throttle control, especially on the smaller tracks. The difficulty is pretty easy for about the first 10 races on career, but it picks up after that. I prefer 02's career mode over this one, but one cool feature about 2010 is that it has real world races like the Kings Royal and the Ironman 55. Also, 24 car fields and 40 lap features are an improvement.
The tracks on 2010 are unbelieveable also. the small tracks like Skagit, I-55, and Chico are alot of fun and very racey, and its pretty challenging to get around also. Lernerville is a blast too.
The biggest cons with the new ones I have are the difficulty, career mode, and damage. If the difficulty was upped the first 10 races of the career, that would be a great improvement, as well as adding difficulty through the whole career. The career mode is fun, having real races and a 40 race schedule, but there are alot of stupid head-to-head and accuracy challenges that are annoying. Lastly, the damage is not very realistic. I have not crashed out any, and it seems like damage doesn't affect the car much.

The graphics are very nicely done. The tracks look nice as well, that shows great improvement, but the all around racing format isnt up to snuff as good as the Ratbag version.
Like slide22 mentioned, its impossible to hurt the car, except for the top wing. When you hurt the wing in the Ratbag game, it effects the car handling,, in the new game it doesnt. If you drive over somebody in the old game,, your flipping, & on the new game,, you can drill em Sammy style, flip over & over, & not effect the car handling, as well as still maintain the lead while doing it.
The head to head challenges, are a challenge in the aspect that, the car doesnt handle at all. There was no way to adjust the handling (at least that I could find), so its all driving ability. The car hangs off the corner something horrible, so you have to drive it nonwing style till it hooks up, which makes you stay off the throttle a lot.
It did get s l i g h t l y harder in the career mode the longer you played, but it was still way too easy to win on all tracks but Williams Grove, that track is a hard one to get figured out. Most tracks Im lapping the field 2 times before the end.
I like to drive with the "cockpit view". & there is a weird "shadow" thing that goes on that is weird. The shadow of the top wing projects onto the car, but it also drifts across your field of vision making it real hard to see where your going at times,,,, but I found a way around it. At the start, I just cycle my view through all the options, & back to the cockpit view, & the shadow effect goes away.
Like a friend told me, it has potential, but I think Ratbags version still takes the cake when it comes to how the car handles, & acts in racing conditions.

From what I have learned, the physics in this game were based off the 2002 game, so they are very similar. The biggest thing to know is that this is an 'arcade syle' game as opposed to a 'sim racing game' like Forza or Need for Speed. Should be a blast though.

The only issues i have with this game is when I come to a complete stop I can continue driving. Best $20 i ever spent, worth the buy. I would put this game over the 202 but not by much

Is this game similar to 2002 as far as a paint or design shop? Do they just give you certain paint schemes to pick from or do you have to be one of the WoO guys?

The paint shop feature is relatively the same, you can't design anything, you pick generic designs and color schemes. Also, at no point in the game can you drive as one of the WoO guys, you are always competing again them. Why? I don't know, but whatever, I can't believe no one has stated that yet.
I feel that this game pales in comparison to the 2002 game. The controls are a bit more difficult because they are a much sloppier. Also, the camera shakes at times and makes it difficult to drive. Graphics wise, I don't know how people think the graphics are an improvement. While it generally may look better because of the higher resolutions on the 360, don't be fooled, it's not near as crisp as the 2002 version, instead feeling a bit sloppy, much like those crap games like Road to Knoxville.
As noted before, career mode is way too easy to start out with and almost a waste of time. I find it hard to finish 30 lap races when I'm passing cars at will, it seems like it lasts forever. Another gripe, half the time when they drop the green, your car is sideways or already into the wall, which is irritating, but since there is no damage at all, unlike the brilliant aforementioned 02 version, it does nothing to your car. The tuning system is also very generic, and I don't feel like you can tell as much of a difference when you tune your car, once again unlike the 02 version.
All in all, this game is about 25% 02 Game and 75% Road to Knoxville, at best. But, for 20 bucks, you can't gripe too much, it's still fun and I'm still going to play the sh*t out of it. I just don't want people's expectations to get too high, this isn't a sequel to the 02 version in any way and don't think for 1 second that it is.
