And I thought Silver Crown and Indy Cars were open wheeled cars...

This is not the only design that has been submitted. There are others that look much more like the current cars with some new-age design tweaks. This is simply the ugliest of the new design proposals lol...

At least the Batmobile had sprint car tires on it.

Excellent point Todd!!!!!!!!!!!! But alas, those batmobile tires wouldn't be legal anywhere but ASCS or ARCA this year...

Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.

I hate to get literal on a mock up/drawing/computer design... but....

Do the front wheels look like they can turn to you?

Distance between the rear wheels appears to be 79' and fronts about 2'.

Wheelbase 150"? Really?

Front 2/3 of the car looks like a bad Big Daddy Don Garlits experiment that went awry.

I think to me it's the Batmobile designed by Big Daddy that is way too ugly to be reality. Horrible. It's like USAC didn't do enough to kill Silver Crown cars... they had to get involved with the new IRL car to prove a point (that they're morons) that was already proven time and time again.

OWWWW... just had a thought... blame it on Tony George! Everyone else does...

is indy moving to a salt flats series format?

I gotta hand it to these idiots, the needle d!ck design is reflective of the pin heads in charge...

Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

The articale says the designer is Ben Bowlby, 24 years of engineering and designing open wheel cars and designer of the famous lola chassis. Now this may be the ugliest thing I have ever seen (with the exception of what they did to the silver crown cars) but this guy must know a thing or two about building race cars so I'm in no position to question this particular design...hahahahaha!! Yeah right! I find it hard to believe that front end won't push like a dump truck at 220mph.

They can't possibly consider covering up the wheels can they?? The article says that the highest percentage of drag is created by the exposed wheels on the current indy cars...well duh, but isn't that what makes an indy car an indy car?? I'm completely baffled as to why they think they need a design change in the IRL. The IRL is barely surviving the way it is.

Yes, this is the Ganassi group's car Ganassi pushed on Despain's Speed show Sunday nite. A 30 inch or so,wide front axle. 215mph around the corners of Indy or any track? Nutz to them. Would be a nice $5 matchbox car for the kids.

Adding $6 trillion of debt in his 1st term and now if
elected again he wouldn't have to worry about an
electorate in 2016 so the sky is the limit. And his EPA
would continue to put the screws to oil drilling and
mining for coal. Can you say bankruptcy.
