I was surfing and found a interview with Shane Stewart on racinboys.com, on this interview Shane complains of Jason Johnson of being a dirty driver, and crowding. Come on Shane Stewart you have alot of room to talk after I witnessed what you did to the 1x Randy Hannagan at the Knoxville nationals. No One, can be any more dirty than you. I lost total respect for you as a driver. Your day is coming I hear! Hang in there Jason Jason and take the little punk out good and hard next time! I am a huge fan of you Jason!

Oh boy, another douche bag making stupid comments about taking a driver out. I'm not a big fan of Stewart, but I surely don't agree with saying take the little punk out. That's just ridulcous. I really get irritated when some keyboard jockey spouts off about taking a driver out. These machines are dangerous and I have no room for idiotic statements like this. There's a lot of good drivers that are pretty banged up at the moment in wing and non-wing racing and to hear some tool say take him out is just dumb! Sorry if people don't agree with me........cause I don't care. I really can't stand stupid ass fans who cheer when someone wrecks as well. Now I will get off my soap box.
Trophy Cup......Best race of the year hands down!

Until you've strapped yourself into one of these not only incredibly powerful, but incredibly dangerous cars, you need to not make assinine statements like this! No REAL race fan wants to see any driver taken out "good & hard" & only a total moron that has never driven any race car would want it to happen!

Yep, if I brought a friend to the races with me and they cheered for any sort of wreck.... I would make them leave my company immediately. Racers play a game of high risk just running clean out on the track let alone if they start banging on each other. Shit happens enough on its own and sometimes it looks awful from the stands but I am willing to bet that most times a wreck occurs the offending party probably would take it back if they could. Thats the nature of the sport, some times your the punter and some times your the punted. There isnt a driver racing today that hasnt caused a wreck of some sort that was from their own doing. Like I said shit happens.
Cheers!

This post is indicative of a few things which make racing and society in general diiferent from the past- 1. A "fan" who obviously does not understand what makes this sport unique and appealing 2. A "fan" who thinks the movie "Jackass" is good cinema 3. A "fan" who like many others today use the anonymity afforded by the internet to make outrageous, baseless statements without having to have "ownership" of their thoughts or to face the person they are accusing. Newspapers have known for years that civil and ethical discourse can only happen when people are required to "own" there opinions by signing their name and address. Not so with most blogs and boards on the internet, so that makes it even more important for people to measure their thoughts and words.

I beg to differ. But anyway, I was curious if you happened to witness the chop Hannagan put on Stewart to start the whole fiasco? or if you happen to know who Jason Johnson went to for setup advice for next years Nationals?
Pretty sure there's more to you than you're saying.

Labeling someone as a "dirty driver" is stretching quite a bit IMO. Dirty is what "Days of Thunder" dialogue was about..."if he comes near me I'm gonna put him in the wall." That's dirty and doesn't belong in racing at any level.
Aggressive drivers are what the sport is all about.
Come on... we live in the "slide job" era of racing. It's lift or be wrecked... "I'm more important than you, this is MY track and MY groove"... a game of chicken so to speak.
People that say Jason Johnson is an angel... confuse me. Did no one watch the ASCS video from the Bowl on Versus when he rubbed out Tony Bruce, Jr. on the backstretch? Jason is as "aggressive" as they get when it comes to taking up space on the track.
Personally... I believe what goes around comes around. You race someone tight and give no quarter... they'll do the same to you. Racing is way too dangerous to punt people into the wall or worse yet the stands.
Stewart and Johnson are aggressive, skilled drivers that I love watching. Keep it up, boys.

I think I know the move our original poster is talking about. It happened at Knoxville on Stewart's qualifying night. He did take Hannagan out while under yellow. It knocked something out on Hannagan's front end. And yes, it was a dirty move and it was under a yellow in turn one. And, it came after exchanging some hard sliders where some contact was made. But to say Stewart should be intentionally wrecked......never. For a "fan" to call for this, well, turn in your fan card and never show up at a track or watch a race again because you cannot handle a situation like this. They will cover their own arses.

Ted, you should have TJ come in and give the other side of the story. He was right there and could probably put some light on the subject.

Ya probably not much chance of that. I think us people on the m/b's and those who do radio shows and those who witness stuff from afar care about this WAY more than those who were actually there and were involved.

Do you even know Shane? Yea maybe it was an agressive move but Shane is one of the most respected young men in the business. Did you see the race with JJ? Before you come on here and post something like this you should do some more research about who you are throwing under the bus.

Well ......... it is a 'dirt' track .... so you might kind of expect some 'dirty' drivers.

That's a horrible post. You go race a sprint car and tell me how easy it is and then maybe you can be a judge on his driving abilities.
Shane is a great guy. He's struggling to survive as a race car driver, 1 motor (leased), 1 car, and he still got a top 5 at the Nationals. He's one of the top 5 drivers in the country and doesn't have a big sponor to put him on the WoO tour. He and Silva together are a good combination.

All I was trying to say is Shane bad mouthed Jason Johnson for driving dirty, there isn't anything that I see that is much worse than hitting someone on a yellow and causing damage to ones car. The 1x was tore up fore such a dirty move! That guy didn't even have a chance after Shane tore up his equipment, on a yellow. Are you saying one dirty driver is different from another dirty driver? Not in my thoughts! My comment about taking him out, did not mean the driver getting hurt, just teaching him a lesson on tearing up anotrhers equipment, maybe if his equipment was taken out and trashed he would think on hitting someone on a yellow the next time. Dirty is dirty, call it how you see it! I did!

I watched the whole Stewart/Hannagan thing happen.
Hannagan gave Stewart a right rear heading into Turn One during the B-Main on Wednesday of the Nationals. After the yellow flew for Josh Schneiderman, Stewart chopped down on Hannagan while under yellow in turn one, with Stewart's left rear making contact with Hannagan's right front. Hannagan obviously didn't like this, and bumped Stewart hard from behind, dislodging the nose wing. Hannagan had to pull in for a bent front axle (presumably from Stewart chopping him) and the damaged nose wing.
Were either of them innocent? No. Shane also supposedly pulled a bonzai slide job that drew the ire of Kraig Kinser on Sunday night, but I missed that despite being in the stands.
Fact is, like people have said in this thread, Stewart is an aggressive but skilled driver. I'm sure every driver has dumped someone at some point of their career. Jason Johnson is no different.
Things don't always go exactly as planned. It's one of the reasons that this sport is so exciting. But to call a driver like Shane "dirty" is ridiculous. I doubt there's any driver who would want to put their competitors at risk on a regular basis by pulling boneheaded moves.

Can you give us all the chronological order of these events?
1x splits the 57 and 6 in a bold/daring move on the start
57 car ends up with front end damage
57 car attempts to get position back as instructed under subsequent yellow for another car
1x flips 57 the bird
57 lets 1x know he's not gonna put up with that $#!^ (poop)
1x loses it and continuously rams the 57 under yellow resulting in significant damage to the 1x that he can no longer continue
1x makes bold statement during live interview that thus far has not come to fruition
57 car finishes preliminary night B-main in transfer position to A-main and earned enough points to make the Knoxville Nationals Saturday/Sunday A-main with a bent front end the result of a chop job from the 1x.
6 car not to happy with 1x either following B-main
57 car finishes 5th in the 49th Annual Knoxville Nationals with a single car towed in behind a crew cab p/u wrenched on and driven by a couple of guys who have their $#!^ (poop) together
Hint: order of events are not mixed up in order to help you piece together the order of events you think you saw
Disclaimer: the female involvement in the above storyline has been left out
Best Quote of the Nationals as the Sunday A-main checkered flag flew: "we just got passed by a nobody team"
2nd Best Quote of the Nationals: "girls shouldn't be allowed in the pits. too much drama"
Did I miss anything? OH YA! I think the RacinBoys do a great job for the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Series. But the interviews they did with Stewart and Johnson(among others) did nothing for the drivers, series, or sponsors. And those types of attitudes where the radio host states he thinks a racing series needs some rivalty is better left for NASCRAP. At least those guys can get on their private jets and wait for next weeks script to be written.

The truth sucks sometimes I guess!!? Fact is, Stewart is damn tough at Knoxville. He's made the Nationals final the last 9 years in a row, with 4 top-ten finishes. Outside of that, he's got a decent shot to win the ASCS title this year, against arguably ASCS's toughest field.
