Tim Gee did finish 8th in the feature but no heat races or TT results are in Kevin Eckert's archive.

Tim did have fast time.
Steve did win the main.
Sammy and Brad questioned Wolfgang finishing second saying that he never passed them and he was lapped.
Heats were won by Sammy, Tim Green, Jeff Swindell, and Doty. No locals won a heat.
Wolfgang won the B.
Locals Dave Strickland Jr and Don Reiners finished second in heats one and three respectively.
Reiners was highest local in A finishing 11th.

That was from the actual release and results for that race, so they must have something screwed up if they say a local won a heat.

Around 1983, the hotshoes at BHS would have been maybe Bill Keester or Ron Roseboom.

I went back into my old papers I saved from back then. I think the problem with the trivia question is that the actual year the "local boy" won a heat vs the WOO was 1984.

So who was it?
Ron ?
Only ever saw Ron race once and it just so happens that he won that night, I think that it was at Rock Rapids.

Dave Strickland JR is from Colorado and Don Reiners is from Sioux Falls. Neither raced anything close to weekly at BHS.

Bill Keester was the heat race winner. He led Bobby Allen, Terry Gray and Brad Doty across the finish line.

The question actually says that he beat a lot of outlaws, not all of them.

About that time, Bill Liebig was racing sprints at BHS for someone who had some really deep pockets. We had driven over from Gillete for a WoO race that got rained out. Instead, we got a tour of Liebig's shop! Danny Mansfield raced sprints at BHS for a couple of decades, but I don't recall him ever being much of a contender, even with the locals.
