Ya gotta like that McCarl. He's sure not shy when it comes to speaking his mind. Sounds like he was givin it to the boo birds and Saldana. Did he say Joey slammed his brakes??

The radio apparently didn't do this race justice. Terry was FAST...and while we all know he gets fired up about things, apparently it wasn't mentioned that during the red flag a crew member from the 9 car was wailing on him while he was strapped in. I'm afraid that would fire me up as well. Wonder how long it will take Twenty8 to join??!!

Brakes or no brakes slide job into the wall is weak. All that talk after the race was just him trying to justify what he did. I'm sure by the end of the year he'll get a right rear that will put him into the wall. I hope he remember's his own quote. "Thats Goddamn racing people"

Terry McCarl in a controversial WoO incident?

Two of the ones I recall:

From 1992:-A dejected Terry McCarl felt he had been cheated by the WoO. Teams were told in the drivers meeting, the highest driver in WoO points and Williams Grove points, that have not already qualified for the Feature would be added as the last two starting spots in the National Open. WoO Officials changed the story and said the spot was based on Car Owner Point positions. As a result, the Two Winners Racing No. 7TW, driven by newcomer Dale Blaney was given preference.

"It all comes down to how much money you have, I don't have the sponsors like Wimmer and I have put every penny into following this circuit" McCarl said. "When they (WoO) need someone to go out and wheel pack the track, I've always gone out and tried to do things in hope that sometime when I needed something they return the favor. Then they do this to me." "It's not so much, that I am not in the race that bothers me, it's that they lied to me. At first they told me Williams Grove rules stated the spots were based on car owners points, I could accept that, but when I was walking back to my trailer, the announcer said the Williams Grove spot was based on driver points and the WoO spot was based on car owner points. But-What can I do?" McCarl concluded.

From 2002: Terry McCarl was placed on probation for the rest of the 2002 season and fined by the WoO series following a scuffle with another driver. The incident occurred March 16th in the A feature event of the O’Reilly Spring Nationals at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. Tyler Walker was leading the race on Lap 21 when McCarl collided with Brooke Tatnell, resulting in McCarl’s car flipping on the front straightaway. Walker tried to avoid the crash by going high on the track, but ended up hitting the outside wall and McCarl, allowing Joey Saldana to drive to the win. After the wreck, McCarl engaged in a physical confrontation with Tatnell.

After I dig out of the snow, will wear my McCarl colors on Monday at work with fist in the air defiance! Yeah! Yeah!

I think thats a load of crap McCarl just should have backed off but it does not really matter because truth be known he has a select few good nights but in the end Joey will beat him 8 nights out of 10 and he knows that.

It's not surprising to hear Terry speak his mind, and that ain't all bad. I didn't see the incident in question, but the truth is, if you put a microphone in a guy's face while the adrenaline is still flowing, he might say or do just about anything. My guess is if the interview had taken place 5 minutes later the tone might have been a little different. BTW, I am a Joey fan, and a Tmac fan, but also realistic enough to know that sh*t happens sometimes that fire the fans up. And that too, ain't all bad.

I also saw the "flower pot night" and it made for some interesting comments afterward. But hey, you have to appreciate a guy that speaks his mind and doesn't just give the so called politically correct answer.

Why should McCarl back off? Joey puts slide jobs on cars all the time. If McCarls right rear had contact with Saldana maybe he should of lifted-then he wouldn't of wrecked perhaps??? That's sprint car racing!! I thought McCarls comments were great. Saldana is happy as long as things are going his way. At least he got to wreck with his car owner there! HA HA HA!!!

A slide job is one thing. But a slide job is when you come up the track in front of the guy, not when you come up the track into them. At that point you don't have time to get on the brakes. All McCarl proved is he isn't capable of actually making a pass. I hope he doesn't expect to win any championships, cause when you race people like that, they're gonna do the same thing to you.

AHHH, sprint car racings version of NASCAR but the only difference is, said parties won't be sent to the big trailer and get their hands slapped and be told they are not representing the sport like they should. This is sprint car racing at its best, always has been and always will be. I do not like Terry McCarl but I respect the fact that he says what he feels and is not politically correct.

Obviously this post wont matter because this looks very bias, maybe it is, I don't know. But I thought a slide job is to slide up the track and not just get in front of but make them get off the gas and on the brakes so they don't ruin equiptment. Just my 2 cents.

I was at the flower pot show as well, I belive Terry won both the 410 and the 360 show that night after the whole deal.

bspielz: Another brilliant post from a first-timer...Mommy must have you stranded inside with all the ice...At least you'll get to watch Kasey run today...

Hey, I wasn't there and it may have been a rough slider, but I've seen Saldana's cockpit visited by several (including TMAC) here at Knoxville after blatant moves on more than one occasion...let it go...

Freakin'-A, TK! Way to go, Tim & SKR! Who knew Grandma Soap was such an awesome co-pilot!!!

People need to get off T-Mac's back. Seems someone stuck a microphone in His face when they shouldn't have, or, should have known better, or......got exactly the reaction they wanted to get. Hot contests lead to hot words. That's why I love Saturday Nights!!!

Talk all the smack you want about T-mac he does not care and why should he . When the fan favorite gets roughed up everybody wants to cry about it . Well to bad THE OLD T-MAC IS BACK and I for one like it !!!! I've watched Kinser lean on drivers for years and nobody calls him a rough driver. How bout Saldana roughing up Kaley Gharst at 06 Nationals ? Thats racing people get over it . MJ

I will just say this....this isnt the first time McCarl has done this. So...in conclusion....he better be prepaired for what comes back on him because the way I figure Joey owes him one!! THATS RACIN!!!!!!

I like Joey and TMAC, so I won't dog on either of them. But, I didn't hear this many people complaining when Joey planted McMahan into the wall and sent him flipping at Eldora last year at the ASCoC show!

I also didn't hear this many people backing Joey and complaining when Steve tried to drive Joey into the wall at Eldora during the Royal a couple of years ago! The difference between then and now is that Joey won't lift these days. He lifted then, but not now. He is running for a title and knows that you can't give an inch if you want to win it. Accidents will happen. It is a driver's choice (if he has time to react) if he wants to lift for someone that is sliding him. I don't know if Joey had time to react last night or not, but I can tell you that even if he has time to choose, he will probably still not lift. He wants it very badly and will not give up a position to anyone.
