Here's the latest news from Cowtown Speedway, as of 1:30pm Friday 9/12:
- The GoKart racing show scheduled for tonight, 9/12 is still on as scheduled, there is no weather forecasted to move in until sometime tomorrow.
- The ASCS Sprints plus the other racing classes scheduled for Saturday 9/13 have been cancelled due to Hurricane Ike coming onshore.
- On Saturday 9/20, there is a huge day and night of action planned for Cowtown Speedway fans and drivers:
First off, the $1,000/win Cowtown BBQ Shootout. Details can be found by following this link: http://www.cowtownspeedway.com/bbq.html
Coinciding with the BBQ is the Classic Car Show, information can be found by following this link: http://www.networxetc.net/cowtownBB/viewtopic.php?t=7091
And that evening, after you stuff yourself full of BBQ, Cowtown's pits will equally stuffed, as ALL classes will be in action, including sprint cars. This will be the last race for the sprint cars before the big Cowtown Sprint Nationals, to be held on October 10-11. Please visit www.cowtownspeedway.com/nationals.html for event information, including an online-only sales promotion for 2-day grandstand passes.
Plus the first-ever visit for the Southern States Midget Association at Cowtown Speedway will take place. The non-winged midgets will hit the highbanks in the Cowtown Midget Shootout.
All details and questions regarding the midgets should be directed to their website. Please visit www.ssmamidgets.com for more information.
Although we're all disappointed that the ASCS races have been forced to be cancelled due to the hurricane, we'll make up for it next week with wall-to-wall racing action and some of the best BBQ in the state - see you then!
