Looks like there was a mustache standoff brewing… KCP Company policy clearly states: only one mustache per team—the rest need to pick a new facial feature or prepare for the Battle of the ‘Staches, where only one lip legend survives the whisker dual at dawn.
Effective immediately: due to mustache overcrowding, Gio has been removed to restore facial hair balance. Remember, it’s one mustache per team… this isn’t a barbershop quartet.

I actually saw the Mike Hess with his tape measure up to Gio's face. He said he could excuse 1/4" of excess mustache, but 3/4" was just something he could not let go. He didn't think the extra 3/4" of mustache would improve the performance of the car, but a rule is a rule.
