Parking $20.00, tickets @ $35.00 medium bag of kettlecorn @ $15.00...

Curious as to what other regions are charging...

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Life is good...

I'm assuming they're still blaming streaming for smaller crowds?

$20,00 for parking will keep me from returning there...the crowd was small!

I think the parking is run by a different group than the track. Was there for one night of the oval track nationals in 2016 and it was ten bucks to park. I don't think anything is cheap in that state.

You are correct. The Fairgrounds that the track is located at charges for parking.

Not a fan of parking charges either.

I suppose it's a matter of conditioning: if you go to a big stick and ball sport, you're probably going to have to pay for parking.

If you go to a swanky restaurant or hotel downtown in a big city, you're most likely paying for parking.

I remember a few years back seeing pit pass prices of like $55 for a regular show at another LA-area track, and it struck me as super high (for what it was) plus there were registration fees and license fees on top of it.

Overhead at tracks in cities like this have got to be super high, compared to most tracks that are in more of a rural setting, so this is their way or trying to balance it out.

I had a client this Christmas that wanted me to find them a nice hotel room right by the Plaza area of downtown KC, because him and the wife wanted to see all the cool Christmas decorations.

I found them a room and I told them it doesn't include parking. He said no problem. He got down there and it cost $41 a night for them to park their car at the hotel they were staying at. Which, to me is crazy.

Nothing surprises me in Newsome's Nightmare. Too expensive to live for too many people. Some can afford to move out. Some can't. You would not believe how many appartments have been built in Maricopa county recently unless you saw it with your own eyes.

The parking price for me would depend on if it is the track's property or not. I have had to pay $20 quite a few times to park but, it is usually because the track's lot is already filled by the time I get there and I have to use someones's front yard or property (usually on Fridays or a weekday when I leave straight from work). I usually bite the bullet because I can only control what I can control but if a track is charging that for just a regular ordinary show then that is a bit ridiculous.

$35 for tickets, that for me would depend on the type of event it is. I am not sure how big USAC/CRA is out west and how it would compare in some instances here in our region in Ohio. Not sure it is something similar to like the All Stars or FAST but, if so then usually those tickets are in the $25 range with kids 12 and under free. $35 is more of the WoO or High Limit range and that depends on the track. Some tracks charge $30 or less, another one charged $35, and another one charged $45 with that same one charging kids $10 which I probably will not be going back too. Sorry but, if other tracks in the same state only a couple hours away charge me $20-$30 less then I can enjoy those shows and skip yours. Price does matter for admission.

Concession prices have creeped up recently at tracks but around here they are generally acceptable compared to other types of events. Kettle corn is defintely not $15. Places like Eldora, Attica, Fremont, Sharon, etc generally do not price gauge you at the concession stand for food or drink. At most it might be $4-$5bucks for a hamburger and $2-$3 for a drink. Price may vary for a slice of pizza depending on the size and maybe $2-$3 for a hot dog

Perris also raised pit passes to $50.00 for members and $60.00 for non members and concession prices in the pits $12.00 for a crappy hamburger, $8.00 for a corn dog!! And they wonder why they're hurting for cars and fans, don't take a brain surgeon to figure that one out.

That's sad to see. Some of the best times of my life were at the PAS back in the 90's and early 2000s. Good fields of cars, reasonable prices and great racing. Southern California sprint car racing appears to be approaching the end of the road. I'll be there for the High Limit show later this month and that will probably be my last visit. At least I'll get to show my son where I used to have such good times.

With the access to streaming and all the other options people have, I think tracks should be looking to lower prices rather than raise them. Even in Central PA, tracks are now changing $20 or more for a normal show.

Just for means of comparison:  I attended a concert at a small-ish (2600 seats acording to Wikipedia) venue in downtown Atlanta last night.  Three bands (Dropkick Murphys, The Menzingers, and Teenage Bottle Rocket)--equivalent to a headline class and 2 support divisions.  The ticket was $65, and I paid $50 (yes--FIFTY DOLLARS) to park in the lot across the street.  A google search revealed prices from $32 to $60 at lots within a 5 block radius.  I bit the bullet for 50 because there was severe weather predicted for right around the time I expected the concert to end, and I didn't want to walk 4-5 blocks in a thunderstorm.

Band t-shirts were $40-50, and I had one 12oz craft beer ($11).

From what I know of the current state of the music industry, the total paid to the bands is SIGNIFICANTLY less than a weekly payout for most weekly sprint car tracks in the country.

I understand that the music venue isn't looking to have the same customers on a weekly basis, but just throwing some numbers out there for comparison.

Didn't know Mr. Gibson had great taste in music! "Good Things" by the Meningers (at least in my head) can somewhat describes the anxiety one can feel when opening one's wallet to go to an event. Something has to give, not sure who or what. People keep borrowing money to do this stuff so maybe it will be the banking industry, who knows. Hope the concert was good!

Okay. Central PA track started charging twenty dollars as the new standard when Lincoln opened after the china virus, they didn't want money to go through so many hands so a twenty dollar bill was a handy answer. Once PA racing season gets into swing every other show seems to be a special time trial show that pays another thousand or two to win. Those shows may draw one or two more cars, maybe. the racing is the same but the fan pays twenty five dollars or more.  The PA tracks didn't lower regular show admission they just have less regular shows.

How about explaining to track promoters how they should lower their prices, then maybe go to your local stores and explain the same to them. Let me know how that works out. We have reached a new standard in prices with everything in our daily lives, live accordingly.

"Something has to give". How about the losers that can't control their spending habits instead of the banking industry? Live within your means and quit being the crying victim. BTW, paying to park sucks but if you wanna be a player you better be a payer.

Well, I meant the banking industry could be a bubble ready to pop. If that goes, the rest of us go with it and we have no race tracks. 1.2 trillion in credit card debt, 1.7 trilloion in auto debt. INSANE! But if people don't borrow money to go to the speedway then the tracks go anyway.

In California, it's very common at Fairground facilities to pay for parking.  I assume none of that revinew goes to the track promoter.  At least 10 years ago I attended a car parts swap meet at the Pomona Fairgrounds and parking was $15 as I recal.  And it was the only car parts swap meet that I ever attended that charged a fee to get in.

And we wonder why the younger generation has no interest in racing. Hell I wouldn't pay those prices and I make decent money.

We've seen the banking industry get away with a failure not all that long ago that the taxpayers were forced to support through a "loan" from them. I hope and am pretty sure there are checks and balances now to help prevent it from happening anytime soon?

But.. Are you trying to say local tracks/speedways could close down because families would have to go in debt to visit those venues? I have many friends that go to premier sporting events but they don't take out loans to attend them, we might save up for a year or so but a loan seems a bit extreme. Maybe I've been way to comfortable under my rock but have times changed that much that people have to take out loans for live entertainment?
