Can't help when you're seeing all of the racing action still going on in parts of the Country to feel diappointed or cheated that the weather is still good and your track has been shut down for almost a month now!! Especially after having 6 (30%) of our regular season races washed out. I just hate that our season ends so early, especially with so many canellations. 6 Months to go until race season.. Yippee

Since about 2007 (when I first believe climate change started in Texas), I've always said down here "Book a race whenever you want, as there's no real rules on weather anymore...it'll probably rain on July 4 (during the hot, dry season) and it'll probably by 72 on Christmas day (when it should be 50)."
If you have enough fans and teams in your area, between the weather trends and how quickly you can book/publicize a well-timed event (meaning, not on top of someone else), I think a lot of tracks could flex their traditional scheduling norms to squeek in a few more events here and there.
I've had tracks contact me in as little as 4 days in advance and collectivey we've been able to bang out results that worked for the fans, teams and the track itself.
Typically a 2-week heads-up can works at a minimum. That way you can see what weather trend is predicted, know other limiting factors, such as other events going on, and from that point blast out the PR to the most platforms you can.

Once school, starts and colleage football starts it hard for motorsports to compete. Flo Racing and Dirt Vision are your best options.Fact Knoxville raceway has 20,322 seats available. In Iowa Kninnick Stadium and Jack Trice Stadium both hold over 60K and are sold out plus tailgaters.Shows like the recent Late Model show at Knoxville paid $50k to win and crowd was about like or less than weekly show. The Indy 500 seats 135k people which is the largest race in USA.

I don't believe the Ole College Sports tale is all true! Sure it will have some effect but your still gonna get your race fans.
Pennsylvania is still going strong with their racing and I'm Pretty sure the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Nittany Lions are on the same Football schedule.

Iowa population is a little over 3 million Pennsylvania is 13 million. Knoxville's weekly crowds are pathetic in the middle of summer. Even the beer stand would lose money at Knoxville in September LOL But if you want to promote a race to prove your point go right ahead.

Quite a few farmer race fans like myself. Once harvest starts it would be hard to attend like I do through the summer. Just another aspect of being a busy season across the state with too many activities pulling people too many directions. idk what the right answer is as I'd like a special or an additional weekly show after Nationals but I just don't see it happening.

Are you going to still get your race fans? It's not just college sports, high school sports are an even bigger draw. I guarantee the racing fan will be at the football stadium on Friday night or Saturday if their child or grandchild is playing on the field or in the band.

Several drivers who race weekly at Knoxville will race in more races after Knoxville closes in August than they did during season. Drivers like Brown, Randall, Reurzel and others are examples. There alot of big races after Knoxville shuts down that they want to race at. The number of fans going to races in september in Iowa really falls off. Once college football starts alot of people want to watch Iowa and Iowa State play. I just suffered thru watchin Iowa lose to Penn State 31-0 When fans stop going to races in sept. the tracks have to decide when to shut dow,

Pa and ohio tracks on Friday nights come fall is high school football time, same with college football, penn state definitely hurts fan count if there playing a home game.

I wouldn't be so quick to write off racing because of stick-n-ball stuff in Iowa (for example).
During the exact same time as the Iowa vs Iowa State football game, this was the racing scene going on - less than 15 minutes away.
In this case, both are established events, you just have to make it resonate enough for fans and teams to make it happen, plus take in account other components (like I mentioned previously in this post, such as scheduling), and you just have to work at it.
When I completed college about 1/2 hour away from all of this, the event below didn't even exist at this track - but the Iowa/State game had been going on for decades prior.
Just something to consider...to those making the decisions for the tracks.

Boone and the IMCA Nationals host the most car count of any race in Iowa.Talk is another exact track just south of it. The success of this race is due to large backgate. As far as spectators go they dont have the seating compared to a collisium type event.Probably one of the best ran races as they dont mess around just non stop racing. It used to pay $10k to win modified and lack of cars is not an issue but alot of carnage Great short track racing. They have hosted WOO races but IMCA is what makes the track work.

You are correct Shortie12. The 'other track' they are talking about is currently being called 'Boone Speedway X2.'
They're looking at having the stands and tracks back-to-back (like a reflection in a lake), both identical, so when the races are all staged on one area, drivers will either go on to track 1 or X2.
Fans will have access to which either track they want and they're supposed to be a tunnel for them to go back/forth between depending on which race at which track they want to watch.
This is a real plan and currently in the works for 2024.
So it will definitely be a one-of-a-kind facility in the entire world - if it comes into reality.

Boone is known for farming their track and are very efficient at it. Boone is amore than 1/4 but in theory wont take much more track prep than a big 1/2 mile but will. If any one can make it work Boone Speedway can. We raced some there when Robert Lawton was the promoter and it was his way or the highway and the fastest pace show I have been around. The yellow flag wasnt used unless absolutely neccesary,

I spent about a dozen years there on manufacturers row there for that event, and it is quite the spectacle.
Invariably in Iowa about that week starting with Labor Day, it starts off very warm and by the end of the week it seems there's a huge cold front come through, and by finale night it's jackets, gloves and borderline cold.
Then the next week I'd get what I called the West Boone Virus (from being out in the crazy weather day and night). LOL.

1000% correct! The spectators come with the car, nobody goes to watch that race that doesn't have a direct affiliation to a car or driver and
