Happy Thanksgiving to all. If anyone is interested in checking out what is going on at Irwindale tonight there are live updates at http:www.westcoastopenwheel.com/
Car Counts - Midgets - 63, Sprint Cars - 35, Ford Focus - 25
Dave Steele was fastest in the Midget practice around 2 pm. Ryan Kaplan was posting the fastest times in the Sprint Car practice. Tim Skoglund and Nic Faas were matching practice times in the Focus.
Over 50 cars showed on Wednesday night to get some practice laps. At $300 per team to practice, teams waited in line to get a few laps, make some adjustments and get back in line to hit the track. Notable teams showed us lap times. Sprint Cars ran in the low 17's (although one Sprinter showed a time of 16.9), while Midgets ran 17.3 times. Ford Focus Cars ran in the 14's.
Practice ran well until Stephanie Mockler blew and engine on the track, oiling the surface. The Irwindale fog began to roll in.
Temperatures are to hit 69 degrees on Thursday, but forecasters believe that temps may drop to around 55 degrees by the time the midgets hit the track.
Irwindale Speedway is a Half Mile Oval. The Midgets will run 98 laps in honor of J.C Agajanian. The Midgets are the Finale as the annual Turkey Night event at Irwindale Speedway. First up is the Ford Focus 30 lap main event. The Sprint Cars will run 40 laps with the Midget completing the program. A complete line up of Qualifying and Heat Races will be posted by 3 pm.
Bobby Santos won the sprint car main. FIRST TIME A TOYOTA ENGINE HAS RUN IN A SPRINT CAR. FIRST WIN BY A TOTOTA ENGINE IN A SPRINT CAR.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!! As typical with racer's, ours was on Sunday! Rod was down with Ryan Kaplan racing. It didn't matter it tasted just as good Sunday! I didn't know the banquet was last week! Rod forgets to tell me anything!!
