Let's see if NASCAR makes Knoxville put in a medical center like they made Eldora do.

Tony spent a lot of money to lose this show.

I can't stand it when tracks use support divisions to help fill the stands.

The sprints don't need the trucks to pack the place

Now Eldora can be put back to where it was before they flattened it out to accommodate the Trucks.....

This is absolutely a great thing for Knoxville, NASCAR, and sprint car racing.  Knoxville may be the one track with all of the facilities on the Fairgrounds where a legitimate NASCAR race weekend could be pulled off.  The size of the track and pits could allow for a true pit road configuration allowing "normal" nascar race with live stops, not red flag stops.  Barns can substitute as legitimate garages.  Sure upgrades would be needed to go beyond a one night truck race, but its possible.

If Knoxville and Iowa Speedway could partner together and try to sell NASCAR on a creative race weekend for all 3 series at both tracks. A Wednesday-Sunday doubleheader type event I believe it would be wildly successful.  The way NASCAR is trying everything to add exciting race weekends to all 3 series and get back to its roots, this could be best way to get CUP on dirt.  Sprinkle in a couple nights of WoO at Knoxville with NASCAR fans in town and you could pull thousands of new fans into the sport.

This is a great first step, and with all due respect to Tony and Eldora, what he started is key to motorsports thriving... but Knoxville is best suited to do this and frankly should have been leading this effort.  I know board members who said this would never be done at Knoxville even after Tony did it.  I have to believe Kendra has changed some minds.

Agree, agree, and agree

Why?  So we can go back to a 1-groove conveyor belt at the fence?  The racing improved 10 fold when they cut down the banking.

Watch all the haters wet themselves when Kyle Larson enters the race!

I fully expect Kyle Larson will be in the race, and I still won't be watching...

It would certainly be a reason for me to try and be there in person. I like the thrill of cheering dirt roots drivers at these events.

I think this has something to do with the SRX series Tony started up more than anything. This would certainly be more of a direct competition to NASCAR than indirect competition of a normal dirt racing series.

I'm just kind of going to put this out there...  These post saying how great this is going to be for Knoxville and all of that....  Think to yourself when was the last time you can remember when Nascar did anything that was good for anyone other than Nascar....Is it possible that they are not really there to bring you more fans but instead to run off with some of yours??  I mean, after all... Nascar has so many extra fans these days..... I speak with no inside knowledge or anything but if I was in a meeting and someone said where can we find more fans, I might point at dirt track racing and say, "Lets see if we can get those".  Its just a thought.....

I think sprints will be safe haha. NASCAR doesnt do this every week and let's be honest, side by side same track just on the next night and I'm sure I know which show will be more entertaining.

Dirtvision covers Knoxville weekly.  That is the main reason that I get Fast Pass for the summer.  Those other guys they show on that channel are just icing on the cake.  wink

I remembered that about the time I came back to see what had been said about the good news. I've been with flow for over 2 years now and as I'm a lifelong traditional sprint car guy, that's right where I should be.
I said it when we were talking about NASCAR's show at Bristol, and I say it again about this show. It's good for dirt track racing from coast to coast.

Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

The trucks are knoxville is going to be a race to the first corner. That's if they get a lap in. No banking to save them in the corners, can you say brake check. Hey nascrap, that's it ! A 3rd brake light mounted on the roof. Boy I hope there's a good cricket match on 1 of the other networks. Yawn.

There is a really nice paved track in Newton, why don't they just race there? I can't handle trucks at Eldora and really don't care for nascar at all so I wont watch it. Plus side is some revenue for a nice town.

BINGO.......They got pissed off at Tony and moved the truck race. Pretty cut & dry in my humble opinion.

I hope it's lucrative for Knoxville Raceway and the surrounding economy but I really wish NASCAR would stay the f*ck off of our historic dirt tracks. Take your pansy ass circus somewhere else.

Welp.... you missed a good one. Great stories.

Agree. I was not his biggest fan in the broadcast booth, but I smiled the entire hour listening to his stories about Dale Sr.

All I can say is be cafeful what you wish for. The trucks are not going to be throwing rooster tails of dark clay into the night sky because A: they refuse to allow beadlocks, and B: they run with windshields.  They will be slipping & sliding and clinking & clanking off the guard rail.

Now, let's get back to the real Eldora.

I was wondering this too.  Never been to Knoxville so I don't know what they have infrastructure wise but this one would seem fairly important.  I have seen tweets saying the guardrail structure was already approved as is.

This new managment of Nascar seems to be making moves to change while addressing that some decisions that were made in the past were most likely mistakes, and they need to try a new approach. I have said that not only Nascar, but all forms of motorsports should use each other to help grow their events. This Knoxville event is hopefully a step in the right direction with having a weekend of having a Truck race followed by a great event the next day. It might bring in some new fans and bring some existing fans to an extra race. It is a step in the right direction although it would be nice for them to highlight all of the other forms of racing. Its probalby not a good idea to have them race on the same day as the track conditions would probably have to be different for the different style of cars. I don't have the hate or disdain for Nascar as some people have on here, I actually hope this works out and a little more cooperation happens among the series. It would benefit all parties and plus I feel a lot better now with the new Nascar management than the Brian France regime which I feel is responsible for most of Nascar's failures.

It is a lot better than what has previously been done. I rolled my eyes last year we I saw that they had originally scheduled night races at the Newton track the same weekend of the WoO race at Knoxville, essentially competing. While I do not think it would have hurt Knoxville had it happened as much, but it probably would have helped both facilities to have day races at Newton then have the fans go to Knoxville.

Why the move for Nasar?

They seat close to the same but Big E can set for ~30,000

Is it logistics? lack of rooms and hotels close to Eldora?

Does Nascar like the look of Kville better?

I tell it like I see it.
