What is the weather "normally" like?
I know there are unusually warm years and unusually cold years, but what's it normally like down there in February?
Jacket and sweatshirt at night? Shorts during the day?

I normally wear a shortsleeved shirt during the day, then put on an undershirt, a long sleeved shirt and a sweatshirt to go to the races, and carry in a jacket and hat. However, you should be prepared for really cold weather. There have been frosts during the races. It is really rare to spend the whole evening in just a shirt. It is much more likely to be cold.

This is the hardest trip to pack for, me and Tommy Bahama (hoseheads name) fly down and we pack shorts to winter jackets with hats and gloves, you never know it changes quickly.
I haven't been to East Bay for years, and I am sure it's great racing. We go to Volusia and what a great field of race cars every night and the people that work at that track are wonderful, I can't wait.

Yeah it's usually colder than one would expect in FL.
Stupid story:
2003 Thursday it snowed like 10" here in Jersey, shoveled out then headed for the airport, plane got de-iced and we flew to Daytona just in time to check in and head for the track.
I was getting a burger and making small talk to the woman at the stand and mentioned I'd shoveled snow that morning. She said she'd never seen snow! I found that kind of amazing.
Now back to your regularly scheduled programing...

The last couple of years have been cold. It is a hard trip to plan for..............take a bit of everything, you'll be good.

Pack like your going to Minnesota in December. Then you will have it right. For 12 years I have wore long underwear half the time at night, shorts during some of the days.

We have gone for several years to Tampa and Volusia. Volusia always feels like a damper cold. We always take one suitcase with boot, heavy coats and long johns and the other with semi-summer clothes. The last couple of years I have been shipping back a box with clothes. Especially if I buy anything while there. Saves on miserable airport luggage on the ride home.
It is a great time down there and especially after not racing for a few months and smelling the burning alcohol from the cars, not the spectators.

The WoO date in Princeton,MN got moved this year to Oct 2 & 3. This is northcentral MN, so we took really really cold weather clothes. (we drove 210 miles one way, hadn't bothered to check weather). They set record highs in Minneapolis-93 and St. Cloud 91. Had to buy short sleeve shirts at the track. Up here, ya just never know.
Adding $6 trillion of debt in his 1st term and now if
elected again he wouldn't have to worry about an
electorate in 2016 so the sky is the limit. And his EPA
would continue to put the screws to oil drilling and
mining for coal. Can you say bankruptcy.

Last year at Volusia there was frost on top my van after the race. I'm from up north, and I think that at a given temp, it "feels" colder down here. Maybe the humidity. I'd bring plenty of warm stuff...
See y'all there,
John

You should have asked. It's not always as cold up here as you might have been led to believe.

Single coldest night of my life (I spent 7 years in Alberta, find that on a map) was at the old Volusia track (now paved) in the mid 90's. With 3 push trucks and about 70 cars it was a rather long evening, night, morning. When the checkered flew there wasn't 20 people in the main grandstand. Spent as much time as I could leaning on the front of the All-Stars truck trying to get some radiator heat with ol' Tom Bailey, ahhh the good ol' days. Take It Easy....
