I have come to the conclusion(actually know this for a while but recent events have supported this point) there are alot of idiots out there.  Im in TN and on a FB hunting group.  People on there talking about shooting everything, so they wont starve.  People badmouthing the Government, the  president, etc etc.  And then I come to work today and some dude is coughin all over the place.  If you are sick stay home.  How hard is that to figure out?  Even if ya dont have the virus, you coughin is gonna freak people out.  Safe distance and stay calm.

Oh yea

Schatz is pretty good

Some tracks are never heavy enough for some people, even tho slick tracks are better racing

I've been quoting a scene from Men In Black a bunch since about January.

Will Smith: (just found out there are aliens on Earth) "Why the big secret? People are smart. They can handle it."

Tommy Lee Jones: "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals, and you know it!

I always agree with George Carlin on this one: "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

I noticed the "hoax" talk all dried up.  Most recently it just turned to "overblown."  Now, it's shifted to whether it was China, Russia, or Politicians (or all together) that made this virus to ruin the economy.

So, let's get it straight----1st the virus is made up.  2nd, when we realize it's not made up, then it becomes overblown.  Then, once it's realized how serious it is, (at least by those above the threshold in IQ to be able to obtain a driver's license) now it becomes a serious virus that the Chinese unleashed............on themselves for some reason.............to ruin the American economy.

As for the hoax thing. No one said the virus was a hoax. Just sayin. I think that was some low IQ people who took something out of context.(since we are into trading insults) I have always said there are not a lot of stupid people around just people who know different things.   Before you start I will match IQ's if anyone wants to.

Carlin has so many insightful statements!

We used to think of him as a comedian. Now that he's gone, we realize his wisdom

I heard PLENTY of people call this virus a hoax.   Plenty.  And, I am speaking solely about those on social media-----the general public.  Countless people using the phrase "this is all a hoax."   I'm not throwing political jabs here.

As for the IQ jab, I was simply trying to state this-----------if you have even a small ability to reason, you should recognize how serious this is or could be.

I agree as there were alot of people calling it a hoax and it all started at the top of the chain and sadly there are still quite a few around that think things are overblown which just blows my mind!

The administration was calling it a democratic hoax and he was pushing that at his red hat rallies up to a few weeks ago.  Now they have mobilized the Army Corps of Engineers to convert existing unused buildings to hospitals.  Meanwhile follow our carrier fleet as I am a flight deck veteran and I saw that the Theodore Roosevelt set sail for Guam to lock down and test her crew of 4000 due to a virus outbreak.  I also read that our military bases and boot camps are being hit pretty hard as well.  I have been disgusted by their science denial but kept my mouth shut about it.  Now my goal is to ensure that any future candidates (a) are cooperative and have a reputation of reaching across the isle (b) that they're not science denier Evangelical nut cases like half these clowns we have in there now and (c) that when others in our community don't have adequate health care it's not just their economic misfortune but it affects every one of us and (d) corporations outsourcing critical things like producing medicines should not be allowed.

My intent isn't to start a political pissing match but those are my personal takeaways and the things that I will support going forward.  This is not a time for finger pointing and childish name calling and I will.support those who do not do those things.  Name calling and ridicule by fellow Sprint Car fans will not change my mind.   Everyone is entitled to their opinion and those are the things that I'll remember after the dust settles.

And the problem is Stan, you have to feel like you can't tell everyone what is important to you without someone feeling like you are bashing their favorite politicians and "their" party.  It's too bad really.

Everyone that knows me knows I hate politics with a passion.  I hate the far left, and I hate the far right.  Why shouldn't I be able to say Trump did this wrong and this right without having to answer to loyal haters or loyal followers?  Why can't he be right sometimes and just plain wrong others?  I didn't care much for my governor before all of this happened but he is doing, at least I feel, an A+ job during this crisis.

I have so many values that reach across both party lines that it's impossible for me to be "brand loyal" to any party or politician.  Anyone who tells me they believe in everything Trump says and does is a phony.  Anyone who says they disagree with everything Trump says and does is a phony.  You are simply basing everything you believe in on what he says or does----not thinking for yourself.   You have to disagree with at least something every politician says or does or you are a fake.  You have to at least agree with something every politician says or you are also a fake.

So, Stan, I'm sure you and I don't agree on every political aspect, but who cares?  I don't think you're a dumbass for stating your beliefs at all.  And, I am upset that saying how any of us feels automatically becomes politics rather than our actual view on a situation.

So---I'll spell it out---just my opinion.  Trump (R)was handling the economy great up until this crisis.  I thought his trade war was going to blow up in his face and I was wrong.  I thought he has been handling foreign policy to my liking.  I don't care for his tweets.  I think he caused big problems by under-stating the severity of this virus crisis.  I thought he has done a pretty good job since he started taking it seriously.  He is going to make a decision soon to try to return to "normal."  The verdict is still out on how he will handle that and how it will turn out.  I'm not going to say he's wrong or right as the eventual outcome will judge him for that. My governor---J.B. Pritzker (D)--is not my favorite guy in the world.  He's a nice guy but wants to give every dime of my tax dollar to those who don't do crap.  But, he has handled this crisis fantastically I think.

See how I did that.  I don't blindly follow a politician based on what I think of him.  I don't let his reputation precede him.  I judge him on every decision and agree or disagree on each and every point----not just an undying support or hate.

If we did more of this, our country wouldn't suck so bad right now.

Probably a good point there Egras, and I have no interest into jumping into the political stuff here.   As Stan says, I'm following the Theodore Roosevelt situation pretty closely.   I have a friend who is on board.   So far his parents have reported he is doing OK.  There's no place to go on a ship and very little isolation possible.   I also have to imagine that most of the guys on board the ship are young, like my friend.  I'll be really curious to see what percentage gets infected, and how many get seriously ill.   I know there are older folks on there too, and I'm just hoping and praying everyone on board can come out OK.

So far a few thousand dead, many of them Srs. who might have died with the regular flu.  Oh yeah, the regular flue that kills almost 50,000 a year but is basically not talked about 'coz you can't blame the Dummy in the Whithouse for it...

Every time I see Nancy speak and say something horrendously stupid (most of the time) like this from last week ' we made it into the red zone', then we made it inside the 5 and now we just have to cross the finish line'  Thought she had a nice football analogy going but then she ended it  Pelosi style, lmao....

Come on Hawker, you are way smarter than most in this forum.  How many did the Spanish Flu kill a hundred or so years ago, around 18 MILLION?  We have a way to go here, even the Constant Negative News can't get this connection yet....

We're just scratching the surface...

Trump was asleep at the wheel while incessantly tweeting jiberish like some of the posters on here. The fucking idiot will have blood on his hands while people in America (and apparently Canada) continue to kiss his ring. COVID-19 deaths will blow by the flu deaths and come back again next year with no vaccine, mark my words.

If Trump is doing such a great job, why is he constanly moving the goal posts?

As fast as this is evolving, it will kill about that many worldwide.  I know the population is much greater now, but how can anyone not be taking this seriously yet?  My family has first hand knowledge of how serious this is.  My wife's relation in NYC was blowing this off about 2 weeks ago.  About 10-12 of them got together----against the recommendation of the local, state and federal government----and had a little family get-together.  3 of them hospitalized with pnuemonia.  Does that sound like the flu?  3 healthy 60 year old people from one family gathering?  (one of them about died)

Everyone needs to quit with the flu statistics.  The flu statistics encompass an entire 12 months.  We are really at about day 30 of this as the first few cases were mostly contained.  This is going to destroy the numbers of the annual flu and will destroy the numbers from the last 3 world pandemics.  There were plenty of people who took the Spanish Flu lightly at the onset too.  See Philadelphia.

We can keep blowing this off.  We can keep bringing up politics.  We can keep thinking we're invincible.  It's going to be serious to our health and economy over the next year.  After that is all done, then start thowing numbers at me.  I would LOVE to say you were right and I was wrong.  Science and math (not polititians) say you will be wrong.  So far, everything they have said would happen, has happened.  Why would you be so inclined to dismiss their predictions going forward from here?

The U.S. will be "closed" for the month of April and maybe 1/2 or all of May.  Easing up before May 1st will be a disaster
