I am in the process of restoring a Trostle sprint car that was built for Froggy Droz in 1965. Does anyone have any information (color, number, graphics etc)on what the car looked like as raced by Froggy? Does anyone have, dare to dream, a photo of the car with Froggy on board? Reply to [email protected] Thanks for any help

A side note, Larry Weeks edited/co-wrote Bob Trostle's book, IMO the best book on sprint car racing ever.  Bob and wife apparently kept a valuable and very complete and in-depth diary of his 20 some years building 502 sprint cars and campaigning sprint cars in the U.S. and Australia, New Zealand possibly also.  Funny, sad (he saw 11 drivers killed at Knoxville during his time racing at that track) and instructional(as far as building sprint cars) and Bob was partially responsible for campaigning that wings being used at Knoxville as it was much safer.  I think several years went by after wings were used at Knoxville before another driver was killed in a winged car and tragically the 2nd one to lose his life there was Bob's grandson Mark.  Also, who was Bob's primary welder on the cars he built?  None other than his daughter Judy, Mark's mother.

Does anyone know where this book can be purchased, and or who published it. There must have been very few printed, because i can't even find a used copy. Thanks

Life's Tough On The  Circuit   Is a great book to read. I purchased my copy at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing (EMMR).  Their website lists the book for sale.

I bought mine thru the National Sprnt Car & Midget Museum.  Think it was $39.99 or maybe $49.99, very large size book, say 16" x 9" and 382 pages, thick strong paper--one heavy book to have in the libray, uh, bathroom.  Also with a jacket---take it off and set it aside for storage.  What a funny character, and smart.  He was the crewchief, owner, and builder of the car and somewhat of the engine, but did eventually get help with the engine building.,.  Could do it all.  during the winters he took 3 or 4 drivers to Australia/New Zealand for racing.  One year the Aussies told Bob they just had to have Jeff Gordon think at age 16.  Funniest year, the year he took Jac and Jack Hewitt and the Dude or was it Shane Carson.  The girls went ape over little shy Jac.  Shy only off the track.  Also funny was him seeing who his 3rd driver was one winter:  Jeff Gordon.  Got is first look at Gordon and said, "HIM", he can't weigh 90 pounds soaking wet. Everything written is the gospel truth.  The good, the bad.  He wrote what happened.

Very funniest thing I read was how super happy Steve Green was to get to hang at Bob Shop for 6 months, finally getting to drive and sure enough he turned into a goood un. They were always told to not do any hot rodding cars or motorcycles or bicycles prior to the trip down under.  Well, Steve got talked into going motorcycle racing in the desert by Hewitt around rhw area.  Hewitt got him a 400 Suziki and he busted up his knee pretty bad.  Lost his Australia trip but got to go the next year with 2 other drivers.

PS  One time he called Bob and told Bob that he was cleaning the gutters at his mom's home, even calling his mom in case Bob called his mom to confirm.  Eventually got someone else, one of the Blaney's I think  anywho, Hewitt and Carson had been told by Steve's wife to not get hurt so here they come up the sidewalk carrying Green and Geen's wife says, "real funny guys".  Thinking it was a joke.  Eventually everyone found out the tru story.
