Wondering out loud here and typing it out.  When the heck do these guys ever show any LIVE Sprint Car Racing?  They have been showing about 3 shows two from Washington and Knoxville mostly, for months now and they are from 2017?  As for LIVE racing I don't think I've seen any except maybe ARCA which I never watched.  Anybody with a schedule or a few answers, thanks in advance....

they had the ascs race at texas motor speedway live back in early april, they are up on the menu also. nothing else till dirt cup.

I don't want to see live events.   Sprint car racing doesn't go over that well live.   If you watch a two or three hour show live then it winds up being more interviews than anything else.    Watching a taped race that has been edited works out much better and you see more racing than interviews.    I wish they would show more races than they do rather repeating some of the same ones over and over, but at least they are showing sprint car racing.   Even CBS Sports or whoever was showing some WoO events in years past want showing them live either.

Hey Willie, you obviously don't have the W of O package this year, do ya'?  Only interviews are 15 seconds before the 6/8 Dash Drivers and Victory Lane after the race.  Things aren't what they used to be.

I heard such great things about MAV and have yet to see it, repeats once or twice a week of the same races after months is worse than boring.  People used to rave about this place, maybe they cut back a bunch on sprints, they sure are a rare bird on that channel....

No, don't have the WoO package.   I was mainly referring what televised WoO races were like back when they were showing the Nationals and a few other events live on TV.   With regard to MAV I still think it's a good thing overall.   Yes they could show more races, and maybe they will in the future.    They do show some good non wing stuff from Indiana, and they also show modified and late model stuff for people that are into that.   I also like some of their other programming, like the sprint boats and drag boats but that's just me.

As pointed out, we have 8 All Star races airing later this year and 10 races scheduled for TV next year.

As for LIVE sprint car racing, not sure you guys grasp the expense to show sprint car racing live on television.  Upwards of a million dollars.  We are a niche sport.  I think many people struggle realizing that.

If you want it to be at the same level as nascar. You could do it for far less it all comes back to the quality of broadcast you want to present. Like how many cameras, announcers and all that Jazz, but in theory you could take a feed of what someone like speedshift does and put it on TV and that wouldn't cost you a million dollars it just wouldn't be up to the same quality of your nascar stuff.

I doubt a TV station would accept that level of production quality on their station, even if the sanctioning body or track was buying the airtime.   I'm also not sure how a low level production quality broadcast on TV would benefit the sport.  If it looks and feels bush league to somebody tuning in then it's not going to grow the fanbase.  Somebody still has to foot the bill, even for a lower level production quality broadcast, and the PPV groups do it, because they will get a return on their investment with the PPV money.  

I really think the PPV model is the way of the future (not just for racing but for other niche activities as well).  The quality of the main websites (Cushion, Dirtvision, Speedshift, Lucas Oil TV, etc) gets better all the time.  As internet technology improves over time, the reliability of the stream & quality will continue to get better.  

The nice thing about the PPV's is they don't really interfere with the at track product.  I watch several each year & also am at some events that are being offered on PPV (Eldora & Knoxville).  The at track experience is not impacted by it in any noticeable way to the degree it is for a live TV event where the show might be held up or super rushed to meet a TV broadcast window.  

Your right in many ways I think you could do a pretty good broadcast for cheaper than a million dollars  is all i was saying and as someone who works at TV station (CBS Affiliate) and has to deal with trying to figure out how to get certain lower quality shows to work with our system, your first statement gave me a good laugh . I was even told once of a Jr league Hockey game that we aired and all we did was take thier webstream off a computer and put it on the air. The GM of the Station was a big supporter of the Hockey team for various reasons

Satuday night at the Knoxville Nationals experience has been greatly enhanced by not having to either rush to the C-main, or in most years drag the program along until the C-Main is ready to start for the live television audience. PPV is the future, along with nearly any live sporting event, not just a niche market like sprint car/dirt racing. 

That said, I don't understand the telvision schedule for those All-Star races. These emerging specific sport types of channels are in desparate need or original programming,/content. To air the races as the sprint car season is wrapping up, months after the races were raced makes no sense. At least when the WoO had their Outdoor Channel deal, or the occasional tape delayed race on Speed, it would air not long after the race was run. 

Loved the Orr book, great read!  Another very good read was Mr. Hockey, the Goride Howe story with a foreward by Bobby Orr.  I bet the Jets with a good friend from Iowa when the Play-Offs started, he has Washington, it's amazing we will likely meet in the Finals.  Made some good coin on them already this play-off year.  They have it all, speed, scoring, size and a very good goalie as do the Caps, dang!  Will be looking for you on the DirtVision broadcasts, you got any Stilts?  Miss ya' old buddy....

Best damn sprint car races on TV were taped, edited, and televised much later on American Sports Cavalcade.

Way back when, the cable company actually sent out a survey of new stations to add. The Nashville Network got the most votes - but not mine. I'm not a country music fan but I watched that channel all day on Sunday - til the country music came on.

Taped, edited and televised later doesn't work in this era and never will, sorry the 1990's are far in your rear view mirro....

90's !!!   Bless you. I always knew there was something I liked about you. I'll take them 10 years.
