No question Steve has highest win % but im thinking not by a whole lot over Sammy 690 to 390 as Sammy didnt run as much. Donny has run 20 or so years now anyone ever figured out win percent?

That is an excellent question.  It may be a difficult one to answer though.  Are number of starts listed anywhere?  If so, it may only be A-main starts and not attempts.  ?????

Just estimating his total WoO shows at 1700 based on 20 years going in to this season, his winning percentage woud be right around 15%.

The King ran the WoO for 35 years from 1978-2014. He did not race with them in 1989 (USA),  nor 2006 (NST) and missed part of the early season in 1995 while running Nascar. He has about 720 wins when you count even those split-field wins. If he ran 85 races annually for 35 years= 2975 races. His winning percentage would be a just above 24%.

would Be harder I estimate Sammy and Dougs numbers but thinking about it I’m sure 95% of the wins they had were against Steve were some of Steve’s wins were without the outher two. It would be fun to have win % Steve vs Sammy both in the field bet it’s close?

Yes......that would be very interesting.  I am assuming an edge to Steve, but not that big of an edge.

Head to head Steve vs Sammy and Steve vs Doug, Steve has a very significant lead over each. Just looking at the years they ran agianst each other pretty much shows that. Doug of course ran fewer years than Sammy, but Steve dominated both of them. Although, Doug had some years when he wasn't running the Outlaws that he dominated the other two pretty handily.  A couole of his years in the Weikert car and in '89 in the 8D car, Doug was the man. Also, when Doug got hurt the first time, he had 5 Knoxville Nationals and Steve had 6. 1988 and 1990 were two very tough luck years for Doug at the Nationals. Two years when he was one of the favorites to win it. Shit happened that was beyond his control, and still, he was the show both of those years. For those of us that witnessed those two runs it was to say the least....awesome.

I will have to disagree with the new win totals obviously Sammy won more Friday nights. 390 to 690 take the races out Sammy wasn’t there bet it’s closer than we all would think.

I'd say you are probably right, after looking at it closer. It's probably pretty accurate to say that the years Sammy finished in the top five in points during their prime years, that he was running full time. During thirteen of those years, Steve has 208 wins and Sammy 171. Sammy also had some pretty stout years when it looks like he ran just part time. In '86 he finished 11th in points but still had 12 wins. In '87 12th with 6 wins, '90 10th with 14 wins, '91 9th with 15 wins and '92 11th with 20 wins. I'm not so sure he would have finished that low in the points those years if he had been running full time. But not sure. As for the preliminary night wins, that's real close. I'd say it's safe to say the preliminaries pretty much covered the years they were both full time. Steve has 113 preliminary wins and Sammy has 100. Can't get much tighter than that. No doubt in my mind though that the real difference make was Karl Kinser. Steve had a huge advantage in that respect. But, he is still the one that was turning the wheel.
