Congratulations to Danny Dietrich on winning his first National Open.
Last night Bruce Ellis said Saldana only has one win at the Grove in 2002.
I guess now he has 1.9...lol.
Poor Schatzy.
Race track super fast. Everyone's sideboards kept coming off and collapsing.
Round 2 tonight.

Bill W joined us in the VIP section at the invite of the Austrailian Interloper...we had a great time exchanging barbed punch lines!
The comment was made "Saldana from the front row?"...I replied "he doesn't have the concentration for 40 laps"...sure enough, the crowd was on their feet with 3 to go.
Danny added his name to the record books yet another time for beating the best of the rest - this time from Row 3.
Notable moments:
Wagaman #1 QT in Flight 1
Kville Nationals Winner picks up final transfer from B Main and bangs wheels with Buckwalter after the flags.
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

Good race last night, Dietrich had them covered. The oblivious will miss the 7 Outlaws in the top 10, but let's carry on thinking it's a one man show......
Feel bad for Saldana, but he's just not patient enough in lapped traffic

Had my doubts for a posse win with only 9 (not counting provisionals) in the starting field and the WoO heavy hitters who were starting up front. My take away from last night was even when the Posse as a group didn't bring their A game, the hometowners still managed to eek out a win. Outlaws and invaders threw everything they had; really dominating TTs and the dash. Posse big guns Dewease, Stevie, Wolfe, Esh and Monteith non-factors. Brent Marks runs better (IMO) off the porch than he does at home. We'll see what he does at Port tonight. He's had some big wins at the Speed Palace. Nice to see the mid-west teams come east. Anyone have the background on the 49 that Dollansky is driving?

Dietrich passed Saldana, Schatz, Gravel, Blaney & Sweet for the win... pretty impressive!
Not so sure about drivers in other parts of the country, but Schuchart gets my vote for Most Improved, 8th place, ahead of some really tough racers....

Good win for Dietrich no doubt. Happy for him. As for Saldana I knew he would blow it from the very beginning. Still, that doesn't blemish Dietrich's win because Joey would not have held him back regardless. Nobody else did either. When it counted Dietrich had the fastest car on the track and had the lines dialed in to finish the job. The night deserves an "A" for the quality of racing in my opinion.

I saw Johnson getting very close to Buckwalter after the B. They were racing real hard, but I didn't see Buckwalter do anything dirty. Maybe it was just my view. Assume you'll be at Port tonight?

The argument can be made by Saldanas now driving that he raced it to lose it...lifting we earlier than the other top five cars on entry to 3 is what lost the race for him.

Dietrich has beaten the Outlaws twice at Lincoln in recent years. The thread was actually pretty tame until a salty Cali poster came into the thread solely to bash away.

He would have beat them at Fulton last week too if he wouldn't have jumped the cushion, finished 3rd and Wolfe 2nd. Homefield advantage for the regulars exists at every track.
