The Williams Grove National Open Rookie award, sponsored by The Beer Hill Gang, will now pay a minimum of $2250.00 to the winner this year.   This award is open to any driver who has not previously competed in a National Open (previous preliminary night appearances only do not count as participating in the National Open).

The best finishing rookie on the final night of the 3 day National Open will win the award.  Provisional starting spots in the A main cannot be used to win the award.  The winner does not have to qualify for the A main.  Last year's winner finished 3rd in the C main.

The winner will also receive a trophy and will have a presentation of the check in victory lane.

The award will be paid regardless if all 3 days of the National Open are completed or not due to any weather issues.

Last year 3 drivers were eligible for the award with Chase Dietz taking the prize.  Only a single night of competition was completed in 2015. This year we hope to have many more local and national drivers competing for the rookie honors.

The Williams Grove National Open takes place in just a few weeks, September 29th, 30th, and October 1st!

Kudos to the BHG.  This is fantastic stuff and a way to help draw new talent to this race.  $2,250 is a really nice chunk of change.  I know a few guys from my area have specifically mentioned this bonus as incentive to make the haul.
