I tagged this to the end of the post on WoO weight rules last night, which was at the bottom of the first page, and the next mornoing (today) the WoO weight post was on page 2 with only one extra view, so have added it here for Reinke and Cowman kudon and others to see, as it is quite an achievement as are all his wins every Fri and Sat at two tracks in Wisconsin and other places.  Here it is:

Speaking of WoO weight rule, just read Flat Out's article on Wisconsin driver Mike Reinke and his being one of three people to have the (modern era I imagine) one lap record at Knoxville. I wouldn't have known any of them for sure but would have guessed at Mark/Karl Kinser, probably when he had that wicked MOPAR.   Brooke Tatnell has owned it for past ten years and the other was Mark Kinser.  Reinke says, "Karl Kinser came to the nationals that year with a purpose",  "Karl wanted his track record back pretty badly (said Reinke longtime crewchief Scott Cowman)".  Cowman continued, "I remember him coming with no radiator, a small tank, no bumpers and an no nerf bars".  "I thought it was kind of funny that Karl went to those extremes to get it back" he added.

I know few WoO rules, but would have thought you had to race with the setup you qualified with, but guess not.  Mike Reinke---another great driver I'd never heard of (and with budget equipment) but thanks to these sprint car magazines, I now know all about Reinke and Cowman.

Lawlessness and liberalism equals Hell. NY City,
Detroit, Seattle, Chicago, Minnepolis, etc. We saw it.
Burning hundreds of buildings, a thousand assaults and
dozens of murders. Getting worser and worser.

I know a couple of diehard IRA guys that pointed out to me one night at Beaver Dam that Reinke did own the one-lap track record at Knoxville for a while.  I was thinking "suuuuuuuuuure he did".  I never did look it up.  Guess they weren't lying!      Smile

I'm not sure I understand the fact that he is one of only 3 to have owned the track record lately. After Mark regained the record, Don Droud Jr broke it 2 years later being the first to break the 15 second mark. Don held it for 7 years before Joey Saldana broke it in 2005, only to be bested by Terry McCarl later that year. Brooke set the record the following year.

In all, 26 cars bested the track record that night and an amazing 31 cars were in the 14 second bracket.

Tim St. Arnold... 2nd car out... 14.791... new track record... wait... what... Tim freakin' St. Arnold!!?  Holy **** !!

The WoO were at US 36 the night before... broke the track record there that night (Paul McMahan, 9.846, !!!).  Many of them ran Knoxville the next night and contributed to the well-documented new track record.  The WoO ran a show at Huset's the the next night then too... and believe a new track record was set that night as well (T-Mac ripped a 10.5 if memory serves).  I was lucky enough to go to all 3 shows, was writing for the local racing paper that year, and put together a column detailing the weekend of 3 different tracks where 3 NTRs were set.  I'll try to find that tonight and post it here.  That 3-race weekend ranks right up as one of the best I've ever witnessed!
