$25 for a usac race or 37 for WoO what's the best $ value. Is USAC bringing anybody? I'd imagine they'll get 30-35 for WoO but with little local support what is a realistic car count for the USAC show

I think it depends on how many of the UMSS (?) or Wisconsin cars decide to make the trip. Could be 20, could be 30. Maybe more, maybe less. I think the USAC racing overall will be better than the Outlaws, but that's my opinion.

Solid point on the racing. Non-wings always seem to provide the better racing but I will say with the wider track now the wing cars have have two lanes which has been pretty good. Facebook USAC said they expected 25-27 cars but who knows what umss and hra guys show. Personally I'd pick the WOO, but being out in Colorado I'm just going to PPV the USAC show and watch the dirt vision on demand when it comes out. The 3 day Jackson Nationals will be the only show I'll make there this year. Really wish BMS and Jackson would team up for something that time of year. Could have a stellar field of cars.
*Disclamier: for the love of god I'm not trying to start something.

Where in Colorado? where do you go for races? I live in Denver, have to travel for sprint cars, hit as many as possible every summer back East....

If I remember right, USAC has brought right around 20-24 cars to Eagle during this swing the last couple of years, with the additional night in Jackson and it being almost 2 months later than in the past....I bet a full field (with 3 heats and a B main) is probable. My two cents is that the racing will be better w/o the crutch on top but more importantly....how often do you get to see wingless in MN anymore? (Not to mention that the USAC show is probably $20 cheaper to get in)
RevJim, did you notice that the WoO will be in Calhan CO in September? Other than that one show, I think we only have 305s at I76, CMP and Calhan and RMMRA at I76 and Calhan.

UMSS runs a restricted motor so no chance against a 410 on the big half mile. The only exception might be Rob Caho Jr. who has a 410 and has been running some USAC. I saw that he tore a car up a couple nights ago so that could be an issue.

Does anyone know what the purse is for the USAC at Jackson?

I'm down in Co Springs. I've watched a few 305s in Calhan and do plan on hitting the WOO show in Sept. I'm in the same boat as you. Have to travel east to see most the shows. I hit I-80 BMS Knox and Jackson for summer shows. There really is nothing out here. We are too far west and too far east.

USAC pays a $21k purse and it's $25 to get in. And you'll only get about 14 competitive cars.
WoO pays a $48k purse and it's $37 to get in. If you used the same metric (purse/ticket price) for WoO that they did USAC, it'd be $57 to get into the WoO. USAC is wildly overpriced at $25 to get in for the purse they pay. The quality of the winged field will be far better top to bottom.

My opinion is that the USAC show will have less of a chance of being a snoozer. The winged 410's are all but gauranteed to lay rubber at Jackson. It will be a game of tire managment from the drop of the green.

To each their own, but after going to Eldora for the Lets Race Two weekend and the nonwangers at Knoxville before the Cappy Classic came along, hands down for me it's the WoO. The winged cars are just plain better for me. The nonwangers have plenty of winners from the front row too!

I went to Calhan once for 305s & was not impressed at all. Total one groove, inside track, follow the leader. Only good race was lowest class (Hornets?) won by a girl on door banging, last lap, Turn 4 pass. She was thrilled, her first win...
I'm sceptical about WoO show, no 410s in Colorado (except one guy who races at Knoxville, pretty sure he keeps his car there) Hopefully WoO will pay tow $$ to Nebraska & Kansas guys? But I'll definitely check it out if I'm around....

I might go to Calhan for Midgets if I'm around. What kind of car counts do they get? competitive races?

Same experience here with the 305s. Follow the leader. I had to double check the schedule still can't believe the WOO is going there. Tiny town too. They'll have their hands full with track prep! Bryan Gossel is a CO 410 guy, he's north of Denver, caught him at a few midwest shows last year. Not sure what he is doing this year. I think he is Marlin Jones nephew, super nice guy.

The show in May did not. Very wet. I'm afraid that's the exception though. I had however forgetten that they put up a huge wall that runs the entire length of the backstretch, that should help to keep the wind off the track and keep some moisture in it.

Crunch the numbers any way you'd like but the last time the WoO were in my hometown of Davenport, Ia, I chose to
drive to Indiana to watch non-wing. I belive this is the only week USAC runs west of the Mississippi and east of the rockies. There are plenty of other winged races.

Badlands first race this year, the purse was I believe around $115,000 by race time, so By your calculation admission at badlands that night should've been around $137 per ticket. Jeez I guess $30 was pretty cheap after all. ??
