According to what I just saw on twitter and then Googled.
Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway is being sold for development and a new bypass. I hope this is not true and probably too late to do anything about it.

It's true. Same family owns Motordrome and have been looking to sell or lease that for a while too. They have been looking to unload PPMS for years. Finally did for redevelopment.
Not a lot of 410 Sprint shows at PPMS outside of an ASCOC visit and one other show. Tough track on motors (it's a big 1/2 mile) and not a lot of 410 teams in Western PA have motors to run there with any regularity.

Not trying to stir the pot one way or another, but their website says the news that the land has been sold is misleading and makes it sound like they will be running a 2016 schedule. Sounds to me like maybe it's not a done deal?

Overhead images look interesting. Looks similar in size and configuration to Knoxville. Hard to tell, but it looks like it has a little bit more banking? I would hope not!

I have never been to Knoxville but PPMS is very similar to Eldora. It is banked all the way around and bad ass fast. I went to the Renegade race and the fast time was 145 mph or faster average. Maybe not the best track for racing but a change of pace and a chance to show the power and speed of a 410 and who has the biggest b@**. Just a shame to lose another track. The statement said all the development that will come to the area, would that be the same development for the land Ascot sat on. The last I knew the land was still vacant the track sat on. Just more big stories from the government and we know most public officials don't like race tracks.

I "read" it (aka between the lines) like this will be the last season and they'll move forward with construction etc. in due time.
Has rep for being bad fast but horrible "racing" for 410s. Cool to see Sprints go that fast but the racing struggles. They do not nor have they ever (at least not recently, maybe someone can give a more historic perspective) had more than a couple 410 shows a season. Primarily a late model track.

That's the general consensus as it looks like two of the three routes that the George Bush extension would take would wipe out the track. I don't know if they've offically announced anything yet, but you gotta figure that's why they bought RPM Speedway last year. Hopefully they make some changes at that track, like possibly expanding it to a 3/8 or 1/3 mile. Too many cookie cutter 1/4 miles in this area except for Devils Bowl. The Bowl has the same problem that PPMS has though. When it's fast the sprints are nothing but a freight train. You don't always see good racing.

I don't have a huge knowledge of the history of PPMS so maybe most other races weren't as exciting. I did attend the ASCoC race there last year and I actually thought it was a very good race. Really really fast and a decent amount of passing and quite a few slide jobs, attempted at least on seemingly every lap. Far more competitive than I expected for a half mile. Even when it got slicker the speed was impressive. I hope the ASCoC race goes on as scheduled there this year. It's definitely kind of reminds me of Eldora, track wise, with slightly less banking. It's disappointing it's closing.

I hope this is not true.
I saw the Renegade Sprint 410 show there and the racing I saw at PPMS was very good. Passing and a late surge to the front for the win...
The place needed an infusion of money, that's for sure. The stands are so large! The track is big...it's unique. I loved it!

PPMS actually tried running 410's weekly back in the 1980s, but had very low car counts.

Ephrata Raceway Park in Washington closed. Ran sprints couple times a month.
