Thank you!

Please excuse my ignorance on Garner's record at Husets! I didn't know and should have checked the facts. One thing I will say is he is so dominant at Knoxville I just couldn't imagine him being that good anywhere else. I think it was his last year in a 360 at Knoxville he either had like 1 or 2 finishes outside the top 3 or 5. Again I don't have the time to check the stats currentl. With all these stats showing how good he is up at Husets it had me thinking. Is Clint more dominant at Husets then or at Knoxville? I'd be curious to see what others think. I certainly wasn't trying to bash Garner. Most only dream to have the success in a sprint car as he has already had.

On the Clint Garner subject if he is doing the 360 routine again, does anybody know if he will be doing a Saturday Knoxville, Sunday Badlands schedule?
|
I know his dad pretty well, he said that Clint will be running 360s at Knoxville but not badlands. They have a good thing going and with the sponsors and success they've had they're breaking even. Clint also has a full time job and a family so it works for his schedule.

I could see doing that for the Nationals, but for a regular show?
I'm impressed, crazier than me!
Or should I say "more dedicated"?

I don't know much about Knoxville Raceway but I'd be willing to bet that if non winged shows were a financial success at Knoxville, they'd have them.
|
Don't fool yourself, the only financial success at Knoxville Raceway is the Knoxville Nationals. The Nationals pays for the weakly losses.

The track was too much in the black also, not their best night of racing, better things to come....

I'm pretty decent at basic math, if they had 2500 people in the stands and 275 in the pits, after the purse was paid, they had about $20k left to pay overhead and salaries. Granted, that does not include the billboard advertising and the charges for the suites, but I do know some of the salaries paid there and in the end I wouldn't call it a "financial success". Remember, this was the season opener too where you would expect a larger than normal crowd. My guess is their ROS is around 8%.

I thought the racing, including the heats were good, and probably better than normal since it slicked off earlier than normal.

Cincinnati. I ride my bike so it's enjoyable & cost effective. I'll be back in June for the WoO.

Crazy? about 10 yr ago I worked all day and made it out there in time for the heats. I got off @ 2 est and wasted no time. Bike I had then would make it on 1 fuel stop. That was crazy.

By bike, you mean motorcycle? I just wanted to clarify because because I live in California where people do acually ride their bicycle for nine hours a day. Kudos to you for making the drive/ride. That's one of the great things about sprint car/dirt track racing, on any given weekend, if you're willing to put in some windsheild time, you can always find a race.

Yes. Motorcycle. It's win-win for me. I wanna do a Jackson-Knoxville weekend once this year.

Wow. You must really love Knoxville and/or winged racing. There must have been closer races in Ohio or Indiana. I thought maybe you lived in a sprintless area, like me in Denver

Yes & yes. I rode past the local track 30 miles from home.... I wouldn't minded seeing Haud win ASCOC Saturday nite tho.

MSPN old buddy.. the racing in the heats was about as good as it gets! The track was wide, and passing plentiful. The 360 feature was excellent... with a great battle between Moro/Garner early, and then Clauson reeling in Garner late. The 410 feature wasn't great, admittedly (unless you're a Lasoski fan). Brown wasn't near as fast as he was in TT/his heat... Madman not quite as fast as TT/his heat... and Sammy was a non-factor. If those 3 were on their game in the feature, it maybe would've been better... ? The track went away a bit in the 410 feature too, which I'm sure didn't help. The weather was sunny, 80, low humidity, with a strong south wind... not a good combo for dirt to stay moist when there are 87 cars racing -- even with the Dunkins in charge. Starting a half-hour earlier did no favors for the track either. If you tuned in expecting an amazing 410 feature, I can see why you would say that it was not their best night of racing. The bar is pretty dang high. All things considered though, it was a pretty good night.
