Since the change in management at Cocopah, I have not read or heard anything about the Winter Heat Series.  Does anyone have any information?  And what are the dates?  I've made both of the previous one's and looking forward to another trip.  Any news?

with that being said it doesn't hurt my feelings.  for the money spent for the trip there, follow the leader is not for me!  the talent was spectacular both years but...

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Life is good...

For the size of the track, I thought it put on some great racing...

Like I stated, I was there for both Winter Heats.  I was also there in past years for two ASCS 360 races. What NWFAN said about it being follow the leader, for the most part is correct.  However if you enjoy locked down speed, it's the place to be.  My observation of the times I was there is this.  The 1st Winter Heat had better races and much more passing than the 2nd.  Perhaps the crews experience of the first one led to better setups and tire selection for the second, as the track was much more locked down the 2nd time around.  In my opinion the ASCS 360's races prior to Winter Heat were much more competitive with more passing than the 410's.  I talked with one of the drivers that had competed with both 410's and 360's there and his opinion was that the extra horsepower provided by the 410's, locked them down to a point that there was no sliding in the turns at all, compared to the 360's not being as locked down.  I heard a lot of complaints from the 410 people about the track conditions.  If they do decide to contunue Winter Heat, they must do something to unhook the cars.  This year there were simply far too many laps on a track surface that leaves a lot to be desired.  Perhaps changing to 360's with a hard tire rule could work better.  Or better yet, bring in CRA/USAC cars and rules.  At least that would eliminate the track rubber s conditions and the locked down, no passing racing.

I hope they find a way to continue with the series, even if they make some changes.  Spending 10-14 days in Yuma in the winter time and attending 6 races is fantastic, even if it is follow the leader.  However, even die-hard fans will lose interest if the conditions don't change.

Attented 2 out of the last 3 360 events in midwest. Both were rubber down. From what I hear, so was I-80 on the weekend!

Depending on your source, there appears to be the possibility that Winter Heat will continue.  I certainly hope so, as I have to have some good excuse to spend two weeks in the Yuma area during the winter time.
