I don't think many people wanted to pay $50 for a little piece of plastic.

The way this should have been done, IMO. Is should have been cheaper by far and should have sold them in large quantity to the driver/team owners, like hero cards to be given away by the drivers/teams to fans at the races and he still could have marked the price up a little bit for fans to order

Nailed it. I think they're cool as hell but they are WAY too expensive. If they were a little cheaper, I'd probably own a bunch of them. I just couldn't justify laying down that kinda money for one of those when I could get 2 shirts with that money Instead. It definitely sucks that it didn't work out for him because he seems like a really cool dude but in sprint car racing, so many things come and go and this is yet another one of those things.

Not sure when you might have purchased it... but all the ones I've looked at the last couple years were just white plastic with a printed wrap. I bought one along the way, and instantly regretted it. As said above, that money could have bought a couple shirts or went towards a diecast, etc.
I'm not down on the guy or whoever was selling them for $50, that is their decision. I'm just saying that I wouldn't buy any more, and many people around me felt the same way. I think much over $30 and they aren't going to sell.
They are cheap to make... so make a sh#% ton of them and sell them for $20-$25 each and they might go like hotcakes.

ya I can see the price issue for sure. still seems like I always saw a lot of them being sold.
i always wondered about trademark/licensing issues making those but may be it wasnt even an issue

That is a good point... although I assume, as long as they are making them with the team/driver's permission, it's not an issue... It's still advertisement for their sponsors.

There's a business (Gator Wings) now in South Australia making scale wing panels. Their price is $100 AUD and their website says all profits from sales go directly to the race teams.
