car counts are fine here in Chico. week before there were 45 360's for the opening of the civil war series. i believe the 410's (KWS) here are running 18 shows this year, onward and upward...

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Life is good...

Aside from forsberg and Becker, no Chico 410 regulars either, not that many others are well financed teams. Also, only a handful of KWS drivers.

Thats apples to oranges. 410's might be headed the wrong direction again in nor cal.

44 cars to 25 is too steep a drop for it to be nothing. I looked at what made up the 44 last year and 5 or so were Midwest cars that were still out in Cali (the Chico race was later this year) and the Outlaws brought 1 or 2 more cars last year, but that's only explains a 6-7 car drop, not 19.

Did everyone just go 360s recently?

In the last couple weeks the following drivers left the west coast portion of the tour for varying reasons:

Swindell

Brown

Starks

TK

McCarl

Rico

If what I heard was fact, McCarl will rejoin this weekend at Calistoga, and I would assume Rico as well. I would think Bakersfield will be similar to current car counts, and then expect further decline by Perris. Not spectacular but it only takes two cars to make a race. Unless it's the Knoxville Nationals, or one of the other big races, I don't need to see a C main. Having said that, does the decline in car counts possibly have anything to do with the elimination of heat race inversions?

Quality of cars was good, track was great and racing was excellent. No complaints here. Just wonder if there would have been a fuel stop had an Outlaw would have been in the lead after several cautions in the 40 lap main.

Starks was running with the STSS at Yakima WA. Washington this year at Skagit doesn't run 410's anymore.

That was my first thought too, then I remembered that the WoO have criteria in place that determines when fuel stops are necessary, I would assume that criteria was not met. Hard to say what Netto's issue was, didn't put enough in, higher fuel consumption, either way it was a bummer.

The car counts have been disappointing to say the least

I'm guessing it may have a lot to do with the new format.  Ya have to qualify well now to even have a shot of running up front.  I'd look for this decline in cars to be a regular occurance this year when the Outlaws come to town.

imo the show was a fluke and definately not worth $84.00 for two tickets.  skipping stoga and waiting on KWS...

ocean speedway also had 25 cars and was follow the leader track, I took 2 friends which were new to the outlaws series, races were done at 930 and we were disapointed with hardly any passing. Chico is my home track, heard they had a good friday night racing, I had planed on going on sat. but decided not due to low car count at watsonville. Seems king of the west and civil war are more competative these days, think where I will be spending my money

Car count may be ugly at Calistoga next weekend. Maybe 20 to 22 cars. Bakersfield and Perris will be lucky to fill two hear races the following weekend. I am definitely saving my money, and I'm worried about KWS car counts later this year. There just aren't many 410 cars left in California.

I drove up to Ocean speedway 850 miles round trip. Up and back same day and night. I made the mistake thinking a gang load of KWS cars would show up to run against the WoO. What happened to Northern Ca being the hotbed for 410 wings. Was a little disappointed, But at least I was watching sprint cars.

We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

What would help i feel is that when the WOO come to Cali or anywhere  there are no other sprint car events scheduled against them on the same night  that is how it used to be.....

Maybe they could co-sanction more WoO and KWS races. Good for the fans and good for both series in my opinion.

It's NWFAN's fault.  He killed 410s in the Northwest and now California is next.

Some things to consider other than obvious issues like budget of teams, outlaw teams with top shelf motors, etc. The outlaws and kws series do have a few rules that differ, so if you are a smaller kws team, or even a local 410 car team(Chico), you need some satey items to run with the Outlaws that arent othrwise required, different wing rules if you run a dish wing, different tires needed for outlaws, drivers membership. So it really doesn't make much sense for some teams to spend the extra money, plus they have full schedules with KWS races, so you have more motor expenes to do them all. The co-sanctioned event is a nice idea, but hardly fair for people running kws that dont want to spend money for no need. If you want to see more cars, get the payout higher from the bottom of the results sheet, you will see more cars!
