Robert Ballou wins in Bloominton
By Gary Thomas
Bloomington, Indiana - September 15, 2007...Rocklin, CA native Robert Ballou continued his hot non wing pace by winning at Bloomington Speedway Friday night. He was aboard the MPHG Promotions, Circle Racing Wheels, Gardemeyer/Finish/Carpentry, THR & Sons No. 81 for what was his 5th wingless sprint car win in a row and sixth overall for 2007 in his first full season of wingless competition.
After being put to the rear Friday night at Bloominton in his heat race before the start, Robert charged forward and picked up the victory from dead last aboard the ART Speed Equipment, Bell Helmets, Design 500 No. 81. The defending Golden State Challenge Series rookie of the year then started from the front row in the main event and shot in to the lead running his customary high line.
Lap five however, saw Kenny Carmichael Jr. get under him to take the lead. The pair put on a thrilling wheel to wheel duel until lap 13 when Robert put the Jimmy Jones tuned No. 81 into the lead for good and drove away to pick up his fifth non wing victory in a row. "I gotta thank everybody that works on this car because it has been a joy to drive and I gotta thank all our sponsors," Robert said. "Now we'll move on to the Four Crown Nationals and try to pick up another win at Eldora."
This coming Saturday September 22 will see Robert take to the Eldora Speedway for the prestigious Four Crown Nationals sanctioned by the United States Auto Club. Robert won a USAC Sprint show at Eldora earlier this season and will look to put the MPHG Promotions, Ballou Motorsports machine near the front of the field on Saturday.
