Can anyone confirm that the Short Track Nationals and the ASCS National race at Creek County is the same weekend of March 10 ,11,and 12. If so, why would they schedule against each other during a month with little racing. And if so, who scheduled on top of who. Just wondering.

Its plain and simple the war is on. Of you look at both " national "  schedules the nsl has been booked over by ascs. It is a real shame it has to be this way but time will tell. Im not defending either series but the nsl had there big shows booked before ascs.

ASCS got a little butthurt when our track went NSL instead of stsying with them & keepgetting sweet nothings. It sux that ASCS has to be childish & schedule on top of a crown event in the country bc all it hurts is the racers that cant race both. I teally hope the NSL thing sticks around bc it will level the playing field but ppl please dont be stupid or nieve about the gaskets bc u get a couple free sets when u sign up & they only cost $13 witch is nothing compared to the amount of $ u can win in the cashbowl

It is a damn shame, but its going to be something that we are unfortunately have to deal with this year. I am certain that ASCS knew when I-30 Speedway was going to reschedule the 28th 'STN."  And initially the National Tour was to open along with the Gulf South Tour, but when something with one of the tracks was not to their liking or something, soon after the date at Creek County for the 12,13 came online.

People can say whatever they want, agree or disagree. I understand that both ASCS and NSL have their best interest in mind, and that is for their respective series to be successful. To what expense that is to the racers/ fans, positive/negative, remains to be determined.

I let it be known my two cents on this on FACEBOOK, that if Tommie Estes Jr. was not involved with NSL, I would bet you that NSL would not be on Emmett's and ASCS's radar, anymore the the NCRA or USCS.

im sure there was no coincidence that the gulf shows got cancelled & yes the STN dates of March 9-12 were announced withing a month after it was canceled & atleast a month before the ASCS schedule was released

One thing is for sure.  There is going to be several more good paying 360 races this year.  And region points funds will be better as well.  That would never have happened if not for NSL.  ASCS had made few advancements in recent years and was losing what luster it had.  Competition has caused them to step up their efforts which is a good thing.  I don't know who will win out in the end but racers are going to have more choices and better payouts for a while which is also a good thing.  The kicker is going to be will NSL require their gasket at their races after this first year or will they continue to allow you to race without it.  That could definitely split things as most guys, at least local guys, won't have two different motors to swap back and forth.  It'll also be interesting to see how many actually run for NSL points with the gasket this year.  And how the motors compare with and without the gasket.  Should be an interesting year in the 360 ranks.

looks like gonna be an exact repeat of last October at Little Rock, heavy rain is in forecast for most of the week down there, as for the original question, it was Ascs that scheduled on top of the STN make up race, very petty and unprofessional, Lucas Oil should cut their ties with them dimwits if thats how they do business.

The booking of events on the same weekend has nothing to do with anything other than old man Hahn throwing a little baby temper tantrum because I-30 speedway decided to go with the NSL for the Short Track Nationals in 2016. He found out about it last year at the STN's and it burned his ass. The very second that event was canceled and announced that it would be rescheduled the following Spring (Dates to be annoyed) that old fool had his mind already made up, that which ever dates I-30 announced would be the make up race he was scheduling a National race to keep his boys from playing with their boys. What a tool this guy is ...!

Both events have already been called off due to rainy forecasts. Mother Nature took care of the conflict. wink

Just remember, NSL booked a make-up race just 72 hours before the 13K to win High Roller Classic at the Missouri State Fair Speedway last year. The attemp was to keep NSL drivers from running ASCS.....the line was drawn in the sand at that point!

Come on... one series was 410's and the other was 360's. You guys still had a great car count, crowd, and race last year. ASCS should not be banking on high dollar traveling 410 teams to drop in their 360. Not the best arguement in my book for two series to declare war.

It's been rumored for the last few years that the association between the Ascs and the short track nationals was on the way out. Supposedly, the Ascs didnt hold up its end of the deal. In other words, they strong armed their way in and put the screws to them. Either way, a little competition is a good thing, unless your a fan sitting in the bleachers watching split car counts.

Lasoski and Brown wanted to run it, Brown did, it was a big deal for both of them! That's the track they grew up on. It was the first race there in 4 years, most in this area thought it would never reopen after the accident. There was a lot riding on the outcome of that day, the future of the historical half mile was on the line! It was very important and emotional day! Trying to force drivers that care so much for that track wasn't cool in my opinion!

Not to mention one for the 410s was in South Dakota and the 360s were in Mizzouri. How many miles difference does it have to be before a race can be scheduled somewhere?

Do you really expect Mr Ascs traylor to say anything other than "it's not the Ascs' fault?" That buch has it collective panties in a wad. I would expect them to continue to schedule on top of every race the NSL has. Hell, they've now come up with a midsouth region (again).

when they lost lonnie Wheatley they lost the only credibility they had.

Just wonder what Traylor's opinion would be if Qiring would have bought the ASCS like he was trying to do.............
