What a snooze fest. The truck series is so much racier, entertaining. Heck I'm even more excited about IndyCar. wish indycar had deivers like Larson, Kahne, etc cause indycar is actually much more exciting

Yep. Same thing every year....Daytona gets you semi-fired up for NASCAR then the next week is a boring snoozer at one of the cookie intermediate tracks.
Be careful now. Someone will tell us that nobody gives a corroded copulation about NASCAR on his sprint car forum!

And yet you watched it didn't you? Kahne an exciting driver? Don't think so. Where did he finish yesterday? He's a mid pack talent at best.

I used to be a huge fan and truthfully, I have NOT watched one lap of that crap yet. I do and will continue to watch the trucks because to me, it is better racing. I do not even watch Busch, Nationwide or whatever they call that anymore.

They need to stop calling it overtime. The headline in the paper reads Jimmie Johnson wins in overtime. Stop trying to be like stick and ball sports.

That's pretty much how I do it too. The difference is I don't get on sprint car forums and whine about it. Winged sprint car heat races are also a snooze fest with single file freight train racing, they just get over much faster.

Love how often there is a big wreck to end the race and the clowns in the booth (DW) rave about what great racing and what a great finish it was. Don't watch much of this but when I do its only the last 30 laps or so and it seems most races end with a big crash. These guy couldn't even race to the flag clean at Daytona. Beating and banging like a couple of street stocks.

I thought it was a great race. I thought the low downforce package really put the race in the driver's hands. You could tell the drivers were really struggling to manage tires and reduced grip. It resembled what NASCAR races looked like 30 years ago.
I appreciate the art of NASCAR racing when there are long green flag runs and you get to see comers and goers based on long run setup, tire management, and driver ability. That's what NASCAR was born on...500 mile races that weren't always about short term speed, but driver/car combo over 500 miles. It's what made Dale Earnhardt great before the aero packages came around in the early 90's and made every car/driver the same.
I thought it was entertaining watching Knaus's strategy to short pit play out, knowing it was the only way they were going to beat Harvick, then watch Harvick try to run him down but burn his tires off in the process.
There was a ton of passing if you paid attention.
Now if you are one for a lot of cautions and restarts just so you can see bumping, crashing, and the field grouped back up again, then maybe not for you, but then I wouldn't call you a race but, but rather a crash and restart fan. And you all sure spend a lot of time talking about hating a sport you all say you don't watch...except just enough to know it sucked. If that sounds like it doesn't make sense you're right. It doesn't make sense.
I'll also say... I'll take sprint car racing any day over NASCAR. But I enjoy NASCAR and believe their racing product is headed in the right direction.

I watched about 1/4 of the race--I will admit it. I thought "Cheating Chad's" call with 43 or so laps to go was pretty brilliant. Other than that, nothing real exciting for me.
That being said, let me know if anyone else caught this. After about 100 laps of follow the leader--at least up front, a round of green-flag pit stops got underway. When the stops began, Harvick had about a 1.5 second or so lead over Truex. They followed every pit stop. As they were doing so, I was watching the interval of Harvick's lead disappear as Truex was running him down. I was thinking "get through covering these pit stops so we can see what is about to be a change of the lead-the first real up front racing we have seen for the better part of an hour". Then what does FOX do? Switches to a commercial and comes back 2 minutes later to tell us there is a lead change. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! All I could do was laugh, shake my head, and turn off the TV. Came back when there was about 50 laps to go and still didn't give it my undivided attention. There was a hockey game on after all! (Right Maddog?--Go Hawks--like the trade deadline moves)

Hey EGRAS yes, I like the moves. Bowman knows he has a window to win chamionships with Toews and Kane and is doing everything he needs to do to keep the team dominant. His 'rent a player' last year was brilliant and it may work again this year. I am tired of hearing that the Red Wings were the last team to repeat. Time to change that up. I compare Bowman to Ted Thompson in Green Bay. The only difference is that Bowman MAKES moves with Free Agency and trades and TT does not. He is a draft and build General Manager and I wish he would loosen up a bit. He had TWO Hall of Fame QB's, each one has won one SB. That is not good enough and I am starting to get antsy. I digress. GO HAWKS. NASCAR, not so much......I'll stop now before the diehards start bitching.......(see what I did there)?

The first annual "I watched NASCAR Sprint Cup and it sucked" post. I'm not very smart guy but I've got a remote and other interests and I know how to switch channels or go do something else. These posts remind me of the old saying "if you beat your head on a tree and it hurt would you keep doing it?" Funny stuff. I watched the NASCAR race on Sunday and I enjoyed it. When one lives in Minnesota and there's still snow on the ground any opportunity to hear motors and see green grass is a bonus.
