1st time to the dirt track in vegas next weekend.  Any tips would be appreciated.  Staying on strip and rented a car.  Anywhere good to eat near track.  Thanks.

Anywhere on the strip.  Track is in North Las Vegas about 5 miles off the strip. Only thing out there is dust, the Airforce base, and lots of manufacturing and trucking businesses.

Eat on the strip at any of the casino's, most are open 24 / 7.

Also bring goggles the track gets dry. And if the wind is blowing at the stands it will be dusty. Also bring a blanket not to set on, but cover up with it will get cold at night. It maybe 75 in Vegas but will be 35 at the track when the sun goes down...

Agree with everything already posted.  Went last year and froze.  Also one of the most boring WOO races I have seen in 30+ yrs of watching sprints.  Lm/Modifieds put on a much better show.

I'll be sure to bring some winter clothes.  The racing probably won't be the best but my dad hasn't ever been to vegas at all so i figured this would be the weekend to take him.  Might go to xfinity race might not.  Trying to hit count's customs and welder up free tours.  I ordered the 2 day package so I believe we get free pit passes.

Sounds fun. I like Count's Kustoms, & Welder Up is interesting but defeats the whole concept of "ratrods". They started as a reaction to professionally made, expensive street rods, back to do it yourself, junkyard parts creations. $60,000 to have someone else build you a "Ratrod"? Thats dumb, IMHO

Too many "doodads" on those cars too

& the absolute worst part is $10,000 for a rusty looking patina!!!

Spray can flat black if you're a low budget real deal hotrodder.....

We were in Vegas last June. We went to Count's Kustoms, Pawn Stars and American Restoration. Except for American Restoration, it was a total disappointment.

Count's Kustoms you got to see some of his personal car collection and a bunch of merchandise for sale.

Pawn Stars was okay, but we found out that the show isn't even filmed in the actual pawn shop but rather in a recreation of it in back of the actual shop.

At least at Rick's shop we got to go through the shop, see where they worked, etc. and even went to the boneyard where some folks got their pictures taken with Rick.

I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

I was in Vegas over the weekend, and the weather was very hit and miss.   Got warm during the day, got cold at night.   Stayed cold till the morning.   I did not do any of the tours, but I had done some research that said the Pawn Stars shop was a disappointment.    Also, the traffic on the strip was always very bad.

Ruth's Chris steak house. You will enjoy everything about this meal. It is a must.

We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

Are taxis available after the WoO races back to the strip?  What cars are expected besides the WoO regulars?

I looked up taxi fare estimates.  From my hotel to track it was like $65 one way.  They did have a shuttle bus pass for nascar that was $100 for weekend but it said Fri-Sun and I'm also not sure if you would be able to get a ride home Friday night from dirt track.  I know Rico and Brian Brown are going.  Looking at last years race TMAC and the dude were there as well.  Really glad they have the support classes with late models/mods and then non wingers/mods.  Sure makes the $40 a night feel better.

They usually get more than full fields for Vegas. Last year was 33 cars, so I'd assume a similar number.

I second the Ruth Chris Steak House awesome food, but not cheap.  The Vegas WoO races use to be great back in the 90's, but as o late its pretty much follow the leader.  The track will start coming apart in the turns and I mean in chunks almost to dangerous to race.  I'd still get a chubby if I went, but there's better tracks with better car counts.  As noted dress warm and bring blankets.  Theres always a few in shorts and tank tops frezzing thier butt's off.

You can count a quite a few KWS cars also. They need a warm up before Tulare Thunderbowl next weekend.
