I am just wondering why there is no 8 pill in the bucket for the dash invert when using a 4 heat format? Doesn't that kind of screw the 2nd place cars from heats 3 and 4? I am not complaining but simply asking the question.

The 8 pill wouldn't change their position. They'd still start in the same spots.

How would that be? 4 heats makes 8 cars in the dash doesn't it? Time trial no longer locks you in the dash from what I've read, so 3 heats make 6 cars in the dash and 4 heats makes 8 cars in the dash (so if they only invert 6 max, 2nd place in heats 3 and 4 has NO CHANCE of ever starting 1st or 2nd in the dash (yet the guy that finished 2nd in heat 2 can. Doesn't make sense.
But then again, why have a dash, it seems like a huge waste to me. I have no problem if they want to do straight up starts, but change hte tire rule to 1 tire per night (it has to last for TT, heat and FEATURE (maybe 40 laps tops at most tracks), instead of TT, heat and dash (15 laps) and eliminate the dash. Would actually make tire selection a factor again instead of everyone bolting on the softest tire available that will last 15 laps.
Maybe go back to a bigger fuel tank too and eliminate fuel stops (had to add that one for Brad Doty).

The dash inversion goes off the qualifying time for the cars that are in the dash. It doesn't matter if you finish first or second in the heat for the inversion.

Not anymore it doesn't... goes off heat race finish so like he said if you finish 2nd in a 4 heat race program you are seeded 8th & will start 8th in the dash no matter what. I agree there should be an 8 in the bucket or at least let them redraw for their starting spots with this format.

The old format was much more confusing to the novice anyway, we just were used to it.
The format is as follows in a 32 car field:
Heats lined up by time trial.
Feature order lined up by heat race finish.
Top 2 in each heat go to dash (in this case, 8 cars due to 4 heats)
Dash is STILL subject to inversion based on draw. So, if you pull a 6, the top 6 will be inverted (putting the 2nd place finishers in heats 1 and 2 on pole)
B Main qualifiers start in the back
The only nuance that I don't know is whether the dash is lined up by time or heat finish? In other words, say you qualify 18th and start 5th in heat 2. You work your way up to 2nd and get in the dash. Say the rest of the dash are guys that timed better than you. Is the dash lined up by heat finish (in this case you'd be lined up 6th pre-draw) or would you go back to time trials for the pre-draw order and you'd be 8th in that scenario?

Based on this race, I'd say you are lined up by heat finish.

Wolfe timed better than Gravel, but Gravel started ahead of him in the dash because he won the heat.

Then I have no logical reason why there is no 8 pill. Blatant advantage to bring in the first two heats compared to the last two if you finish second.

The only logical reason is they don't want the fastest quailifier starting 8th in the dash just like the old format when they removed the 8 inversion.

Obviously this is a big flaw in their new format. That's why Gibson is not here explaining it. If dash is by heat finish then 2nd place finishers are screwed if they were in heat 3 or 4.
I like all the WoO teams it's the ownership and management I do not like. Gibson is stupid enough to think we will believe him when he says he's posting as a fan not a WoO spokesperson after cashing paychecks from the WoO for how many years?

Make each feature twice as long and add an open red.
(I am only kidding folks-thought I better add that disclaimer)

Good deal! Good to see the adjustment. Whether one likes the format or not at least this is fair to those eight racers in lieu of a pill draw. Looking forward to Vegas and Arizona next weekend.

Thanks to stroker_race for asking the question. Obviously the WoO overlooked that detail in their format and dash pill draw. Either Gibson saw this post or drivers complained and now they make a change and put an 8 in the draw. Shows the level of intelligence those running the WoO have that needing an 8 in the dash draw never occurred to them till now! WOW!

You're lucky he posts anything on here at all, no matter who it is for.

Of course he's a spokesperson for the WoO in a public forum. When spoken to privately, you may hear something a bit more candid. If at some point he said he was posting as a fan, then he likely was, and thus the reason for stating it.
Now to the point of you calling him stupid, not only does he possess a wealth of sprint car knowledge, both past and present, he is also an educated individual. Just so you know.
