That's good news. I was hoping they'd stay in the schedule. The first couple Speedweek shows there were a rubbered up snooze fest due to lack of track prep. The last 3 shows have been great however and I'm glad they're still on the schedule. When Hagerstown is prepped right its one of the best places to watch a sprint car race. They really haul ass around that place.

Thought they might get another WoO date at Hagerstown this year.   I'll definitely have to make the Speedweek show since no WoO!

Really wish Susquahanna would have gotten a Speedweek race instead of Port having 2 races.    The fan support and car counts would be great for a Susky speedweek show.

Agreed. I don't have a problem with Port or Lincoln getting an extra date the last few years if there isn't a suitable track to fill it. I'd rather see 2 shows at Port or Lincoln than have a shit hole like Big Diamond on the schedule or something but Susky is awesome. Geography wise, its right smack in the middle of Central Pa sprint car country and its a great place for a midweek show since most of the teams are stationed rather close by. I was really hopeful that they'd get the Thursday date this season with Gobrecht taking over. Oh well, maybe they'll be on the schedule in 2017.

As always pray for rain.  Lots of amazing memories from that place when its not icy.  One of the best was Swindell and Dollansky sliding each other with wheelies at the end of sliders off the cushion.  Sometimes I think such things were just dreams.  That place not watered is like Kyle Larson and Rico being in NASCAR.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Glad to see Hagerstown added to speedweek schedule but agree with what's been said here , Susky would make it a great
speedweek addition and it could be a homerun for Scott Gobrecht in his first season .

Don't blame you. In all of my years going to the races, I'd never seen such a shitty track prep job. If I remember correctly, the year Kauffman won his last race, quick time was somewhere around 19 seconds which is 4 seconds off the track record. There are very few times I regret going to a race track but that was one of them. Most boring night of "racing" I ever witnessed. The only plus was seeing Kauffman get his last win but it was hardly exciting. No one got off the bottom all night and it was rubbered by the end of hotlaps. The last 3 however have been great and as long as they keep that up, I'll keep going but one more like the first couple and I'm not going back either.

Yep, thats the race I saw.

Terrible. They were slowing down on every corner

I don't like that place either cause my boyhood racing hero Smokey Stover, from Staunton, Va. got badly injured there (pretty much career ending) I think it might have been his first time in a sprint car (he raced modified coupes... old school hotrods!)

So who authorized you to speak for all Marylanders? I know lots of people there who like me...

You're gonna try to ban me from the whole state cause I don't like one race track?

Ohhhhhh, this explains why you're so sour and judgemental, I forgive you all you're ignorance and arogance. You are simply redirecting  jealous rage. I guess it's pretty healthy considering all the ways you could have expressed you're feelings, good for you!

So let me get this straight. Due to the fact that revjimk paid good money for a completely shitty race (a race that was shitty because at the time, Hagerstown didn't think it was a good idea to even ATTEMPT to prep their track for one of their biggest shows of the year) and decide that he would no longer spend his money there, you think you need to speak on behalf of Maryland and ban him from returning? You talk shit on Port Royal all the time and refuse to go back even though at their absolute worst, they never put on such a pathetic display as the speedweek shows between 2010-2012 at Hagerstown yet you get pissed whenever someone expressed their disgust with Hagerstown due to a surface that absolutely no one (except you apparently) would disagree was as bad as it gets....not just once but several times. I chose to return and now they have their shit together apparently but I wouldn't blame anyone who was not willing to take the risk at wasting their money due to being at one of their many rubber down parades that they had in years past

All great comments here ,as it's been said Hagerstown is a welcome addition . But Susquehanna would have been even better for Scott, fans ,drivers and would have been a larger car count .But dates were allocated early I guess to Port Royal ,next year it will happen .

It seems to have bothered your thought process, however. Usually you can come up with a better smart ass reply than that.

you want to pay good money for a shitty race, drive no further than Selinsgrove...

Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

Correct, BRR.  However, in a galaxy far, far away, many, many decades ago, when Jack Gunn and KARS ruled Selinsgrove..........The racing surface was incredible...........Lightning fast, with minimal dust and rocks......where "all" the racers were relatively  competitive and the features were dog fights.   Alas, "Gone With The Wind."  E-Mods.

Damn I'll say. That's quite haul even for a great race much less what you were subjected to at Hagerstown a few years ago. If you're ever in the area during Speedweek, I would suggest attending based upon the past 3 years. I don't know if they got new clay or anything but the track prep was infinitely better than it was from 2010-2012. I'm not sure I'd even call what they did back then track prep. I remember in 2012 I got there about 2 hours before the scheduled start time and the track was still dry, cracked and completely untouched. Evidently, they have now discovered that you can dig a race track up and water it.
