Hello race fans from around the globe. Greetings from the Frozen Tundra that is currently Badlands Motor Speedway, as several inches of snow blanket the 3/8-mile oval just outside of Sioux Falls.

We were the Title Sponsor of the Hi-Performance Racing Swap Meet in Sioux Falls last weekend.  We answered a load of questions from race teams and fans and we heard a few rumors that just simply weren’t true.

Our intention is to make BMS the top sprint car venue in the country. It’s a tight little place with imposing walls, which we believe lends itself to showcasing the talents of some of the top sprint car drivers in the world.  We understand that there are other racing venues within the area, but our intention is sincere – we want to simply put on the best racing event for the people of Sioux Falls and Brandon.

There are some very impressive sprint car groups in the country: the World of Outlaws, the National Sprint League and United States Auto Club, to name a few. We’re incredibly excited to have the WoO and USAC both sanctioned for the Rock N Roll Gold Cup in August.

Regarding the NSL:

  • We understand and appreciate that sprint car fans in this area are upset that the NSL won’t be racing with us this summer.
  • We are disappointed, too. We had a verbal agreement with the NSL to run four times at Badlands Motor Speedway in 2016.  Based on this confirmation we announced at a Sept. press conference that the NSL would be at BMS.  We went as far as to allow them to select their dates first.

However, they backed out.

  • We found out – via a text no less – that the NSL had changed its mind just days after our Sept. 13 announcement. Needless to say, that made things difficult for us. We were as surprised as anyone that the NSL made the announcement that they would not be racing with us this summer.

Despite the fact that the NSL went back on their agreement, we are still incredibly excited about the 2016 season. We have a fantastic schedule of 42 events at Badlands Motor Speedway in 2016 and are humbled by all of the drivers that plan to call BMS home this season.

We want to build sprint car racing to unprecedented heights. Our intention is to continue to build the sport, and the rumors that we are hurting sprint car racing are simply unfounded.

We will continue to be forthright in our intensions, and truly wish the best to all of the leagues, race tracks, drivers and fans.  Our goal is to bring new fans of all ages back to the stands and restore dirt track racing to its glory days.

We are stead-fast to make this a win-win for everyone regardless of a few negative comments and unfounded rumors by a small group of people who for some reason feel threatened.

Green, green, green! We can’t wait for you to experience Badlands Motor Speedway!

I agree. If you want to grow the sport, Don't compete against Knoxville. Run special shows on any day but Saturday.

I guess I now understand why they have announced "big name concerts" without the actual name of the band more than one time, only to have no concert at all.

Maybe they didn't come to terms and no contract was signed for those either.

The statement itself just oozes non-professionalism.  No company would ever put out anything like this that has a shred of ethics or hopes of doing business with the company they couldn't come to an agreement with again.

My hope would be that this wasn't put out by Badlands Motor Speedway at all, and someone with a log in name of Badlands.

I live in Sioux Falls, work in Brandon. Can't wait for next year at Badlands. It's going to be awesome and I think Jackson, Knoxville and Husets will all be fine. The NSL had a hard time last year getting teams to travel. I think their Jackson-Knoxville formula will help improve that, I also don't think it will hurt Badlands if the NSL doesn't come. It's mainly made up of the Knoxville drivers that didn't come on Sunday anyway.

Put it in perspective. This country has a heck of a lot of major problems with it's lack of leadership that completely dwarfs whatever Badlands Speedway does in 2016. Don't worry the small stuff as much bigger things are coming.

Good grief folks, some of you would bitch if you were hung with a new rope. Even when the truth surfaces you STILL BITCH. You can twist it anyway you wish and use any terms you want  but for crying out loud grow up and quit this constant negative rhetoric which accomplishes absolutey nothing.

What's the saying......you gotta learn to walk before you can run. I don't get why the feel the need to go head to head with Kville. smh

"Our intention is to make BMS the top sprint car venue in the country."

This is what you call and unrealistic goal.

Just playing devil's advocate here...I don't know if River Cities/NOSA are still running sprints weekly on Fridays in 2016, but if they are, are you equally upset that Jackson/NSL is going head to head with River Cities now on Friday?  And how come no one is making a stink about that???  Those tracks are almost equadistant as knoxville/husets.  328 miles vs 354 miles.

Why be surprised NSL backs out of agreements and handles them via text? You are talking about a squad of people that has endorsed Sammy Swindell for years. The bar for class was not set very high. Then again, Sammy wouldn't be able to reach a bar that was too high, figuratively or literally.

This supposed squad you speak of also endorses Dale Blaney. I would not expect you to understan, but, he is to be a Hall of Fame driver this year. Why would Badlands put NSL on their schedule in September knowing schedules don't released till later? Perhaps they should not release a schedule without confimation of dates. Money can't buy everything!

Long time listener, first time caller here.

Here is what I think went down between NSL and Badlands:

Chuck: Tod, I am buying Husets and I plan on having 4 NSL dates next year.

Tod: Thats great! Let me know what you are thinking.

Chuck holds press conference bragging about how big and bad his new "Badlands Speedway" is going to be with all these dates and big money races.

Tod: Hey Chuck, we never said you could have those dates for NSL Shows.

Chuck: You said I could have 4 dates and those are the dates I want.

Tod: I will not run against Knoxville.

Chuck: But you said I had 4 dates and those are the dates I'm going to run NSL Shows.

Tod: No, you are not. I will not schedule against Knoxville.

Chuck: But those are the dates I have scheduled for NSL Shows.

Tod: I will not schedule against Knoxville.

Chuck: But my track is going to be bigger and better than anything Knoxville has ever done! What do you mean you won't let me have those dates.

Tod: Pick different dates.

Chuck: No!

Tod: Good Bye

Chuck: But my track is going the be the best thing in the world. You are an idiot if you can't see... (click)

It is still my full belief that the new owner at this track's full intention is to tank it so he can scrap it and have a fiscal reason.

There is literally zero other reason to justify the repeated awful strategic moves that they have made.

Yea, cause it makes any sense to intentionally lose a lot of money simply to justify another plan in the eyes of message board members rather than to adopt that plan right away. You figured it out, so smart.

RCS is indeed running every Friday. I'd say 90-95% of the sprint teams car tow less than 100 miles to race there. Jackson will have little if no effect.

Man some of you love to bitch.  Badlands is a business.  So is Knoxville.  Did you know that competition creates better products for everyone?!

I can't believe there is more than one restaurant in Sioux Falls.  How dare they compete against Knoxville restaurants!

Seriously, read what you are complaining about.  It might affect (maybe) four drivers who have to make a decision.  That's right, they get to CHOOSE where they go.  And they have two great options.  And that's a problem?  C'mon man!

Yeah, some of this seems to good to be true, but I know I will give it a chance. And as far as wanting to be the best in the country, what are they supposed to say?  "We want to be second best because we don't want to step on any toes".  No businessman worth anything has EVER said that!

I can't believe how narrowminded some people are.  Bitch about Huset's with prior owners and want a change, get it, and still bitch...
