National Sprint League 410 Sprint Car Series 2016 Schedule Announced!

Windom, MN (December 10, 2015) – The initial 2016 schedule for the National Sprint League 410 Sprint Car Series has been announced.  The schedule encompasses over thirty events in six states.  The schedule features a number of exciting return trips from its inaugural season as well as some much anticipated new venues.

Headlining the schedule will be the 38th Annual AGCO Jackson Nationals at the Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minnesota, September 2-4.  For the first time, the Jackson Nationals will be a three-day event.  Last year’s winner, Sammy Swindell, walked away with a check for $25,000!

The $20,000 to win Front Row Challenge will again be a part of the schedule.  One of the biggest events in all of sprint car racing will take place at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Monday, August 8.  A trio of “Dirt Classic” events presented by Kasey Kahne are on the schedule as well.  On May 6, the “Dirt Classic” at I-80 Speedway will pay $10,000 to the winner.  Two non-point September events in Pennsylvania including a $20,000 to win event at Lincoln Speedway are a part of the schedule as well.

Knoxville Raceway in Iowa will host a total of ten events.  Highlighting the shows at the “Sprint Car Capital of the World” will be a big two-day show over the Fourth of July weekend featuring Fireworks on Saturday, July 2.  Jackson Motorplex in Minnesota will also play host to multiple NSL events on Friday nights.  In addition to the Jackson Nationals, the revamped speed plant will be the site of the Folkens Brothers Trucking Spring Nationals on May 13, and the Jackson County Fair race on July 29.

Other return venues for the NSL include their season opener at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa on April 9, and the St. Francois County Raceway near Farmington, Missouri on May 27.  At the conclusion of the season, the NSL will be part of the track’s traditional Queen’s Royale as well, September 30 and October 1.  The series also returns to the Iowa State Fair Speedway in Des Moines on May 29 and the Hancock County Speedway near Britt, Iowa on July 31.

New tracks for the NSL in 2016 include Mason City Motor Speedway in Mason City, Iowa on June 19, the Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer, Iowa on September 16 and US36 Raceway near Cameron, Missouri on September 17.  The latter two shows will be co-sanctioned with the World of Outlaws.  A total of four shows will be co-sanctioned with the WoO.  Jackson Motorplex and Cedar Lake Speedway near New Richmond, Wisconsin will also host both series.

The Outlaws and NSL at US 36 Raceway will be interesting. They've really struggled on car counts with the ASCS Warrior shows there in the last year or two. It's a fast, high-banked track that is fun to watch races on, but it's always so rough that a lot of guys tear up equipment. It'll be nice to see a show there with what should be a good car count between both series.

And it will be interesting to see how the crowd turns out for the race at Des Moines. This year's event had a massive crowd, but there was a few problems with a lack of ticket booths causing log lines to get in and very poor track prep with single-file, freight train racing. Hopefully the problems are fixed this year and the crowd that was there last year comes back. I don't know that I'll make that two hour drive on a Sunday night.

While I don't like the fact that the schedule is so loaded with 2 tracks, I am thrilled to see the the Queen's Royale on the schedule.  The track there is really great and I think after the NSL exposure this year, people will realize what a racy track this is.

I do find the Cedar Lake date on a Friday incredibly odd, given that it is part of a 2 day Outlaw show.  Basically the fans should go Friday and save their money Saturday because  a dozen of the drivers will be leaving town.  Its just weird.

Saturday pays 15k to win, so id assume a bunch will stick around.

So why no Husets Badlands Shows? NSL's butthurt about Badlands running Satruday night? Sucks for the fans, I would rather a 410 show at Badlands vs Jackson anyday.

No, Badlands is Butthurt that NSL is trying to better sprint car racing as a whole... Super Chuck just wants to push everyone around... Good thing is at Badlands we will get the premier drivers on Sunday Nights for 1/2 price family night.  (basiclly 2015 prices) I see Tmac Ian Madsen and TK doing NSL friday and Saturday and 360s at Husets for $2500 to win. Maybe Tod is not happy that Badlands put out a schedule earlier with 3 Saturday NSL shows listed on it without first talking to the NSL to see if he could get a race on those nights. Knowing (or should have known) that Tod had already said he would not schedule against Knoxville.

This guy needs to learn that talking out your butt does not go over real well.

NSL's foundation for success is to NOT COMPETE against other tracks and santioning bodies. Its designed to WORK WITH them... Its all based off of Knoxville.

Chuck Brennan and his Cronies have made some absud comments.

1) Rock and Roll Gold Cup will be unpresidented payouts. Payouts never heard of before... Um sorry boys, Your race doesnt even pay 3rd place at the Nationals.  Matter of fact, $50k to win isnt prob even in top 5 best paying races in the history of Sprint Cars.

2) Going on the radio and TV telling people to come check out your state of the art 410 Horsepower SPrint car...

Sorry bud, but that jolpy was put together with Junk. Other than a Nice Octane Wrap on a buncha junk. Furthest thing from State of the art sprint car.  Ohh and yes, They said 410 Horsepower Sprinter. 410 HP would have been state of the Art along with your 50k to win in 1979.

3) annoucing NSL races before you actually have NSL races scheduled. Just assuming you can buy your way along.  Good thing Tods got some deep pockets too and has relationships in the racing community.

2016 will be an intersting year... Thats for sure...

Wait, there are two Super Chuck's now? Would the real Super Chuck please stand up?

Surprised no co-sanctions with the IRA at Sun Prairie and Cedar Lake again. Thought both were great shows but the IRA regulars did struggle at both shows.

Looks like a pretty decent schedule. As a Central Pa fan, I'm quite curious as to what everyone's opinion is as far as the partnership with the Dirt Classic goes. That's interesting to me to say the least. Such a partnership would make far more sense with the All Stars considering how much closer the All Star teams are to Central Pa. If it means I'll get to see Brian Brown, Lasoski, Tim Kaeding etc. come to Central Pa and race, I'm damn pumped about that but the question is: will they actually tow that far for a race that has one of Central Pa's patented top heavy purses? I'm not sure what the purse was last year or what it will be this year because I haven't looked for myself but I was told by a car owner that it dropped off big time after 1st place and paid ok, but not great back through and I'm inclined to believe it since that's how most Central Pa purses are structured. Maybe it would be a little more enticing with the National Open coming up the next weekend if they didn't have a race scheduled in Farmington Mo. that weekend. I don't see any of them towing that far for one race.

Cedar Lake announced that they will be running the UMSS non-wing Sprints as part of their regular lineup most Saturday nights.  When I saw that I decided to try to get out to the races more often this coming season on the nights they're running with the Late Models.  As far as the Friday WoO night and Jerry Richert Sr. Memorial goes, I have been attending both as long as they have had those events on the schedule.  I think I only missed one or two WoO shows in over 30 years and have been to every Jerry Richert Sr. Memorial.  I like the Triple with the IRA, Late Models and Modifieds as well.

The NSL is a good deal if a person lives in extreme southern Minnesota or Iowa.  Not so much if a person lives north of Minneapolis/St. Paul and takes the MTC bus to work through a never ending obstacle of construction.  Driving into work and taking half a day off for Jackson and pulling into the driveway at 4am isn't my deal anymore.  I used to do those redeye drives when I was younger but now I need to get a motel and spend the night or don't bother going.  The budget for racing travel is pretty thin with one income and a wife who doesn't care for me taking trips by myself.  I'll be concentrating on whatever Cedar Lake has to offer and am planning on upgrading my camera body now that I'm done with the three summer remodeling project.

This NSL deal is pretty good if a person is in a position to travel but for some of us it's just another thing that's beyond our grasp.  Out of sight, out of mind.  wink

seeing those PA dates makes me think there has to be a reason.  Perhaps Tod trying to start a regional rivalry...? Wondering if behind the scenes he would be offering more tow money to every full time member to tow out.  Something as simple as another $500 would cover the diesel round trip.

Interesting thing is National Open is the next week but Queen's Royale is on schedule.  Guys like Brown and others have stated how they would like to run the Kings Royal and National Open each year.

Maybe with Posse guys towing to run Nationals and maybe all start running the FRC also..perhaps this could be the start of an on track bragging rights deal.  Some sort of competition where 2 events are run in PA vs 2 events in Midwest...

Heck, enough of both teams also tow to Volusia each year and World Finals, Knoxville is now making Kings Royal weekend non-points so could start seeing more Knoxville guys there.....maybe some sort of annual points deal could be developed and kept... PA vs NSL.

Just a though.  Without a PA sanctioning body it might take a group of local racers in PA to do get together with Tod to put on something like this... but who knows.

That's an interesting concept and something I'd like to see. I'd at least like to see those guys come run my home tracks more often. The Knoxville/NSL regulars are in my opinion, the most talented group of weekly racers in the country right now. Here in Pa, we have some young guys who are up and coming that may help to even that score in the next couple of years but right now, Knoxville is the toughest weekly field in the country. It would be neat to see something like that materialize. As far as Brian Brown wanting to run the National Open, unless something has changed, he said after the last time that he came in to run it that he wouldn't be back. He ran decent and put it in the show both nights yet still lost his ass financially due to the much too top heavy purse and that was his reason. I wish he would come back though. He's in my opinion probably the greatest ambassador that sprint car racing has. Very classy, very friendly and one hell of a driver.

US 36 has only run two or three races each of the past two years, and the rut entering turn 1 has taken numerous cars out over the years.  They better come up with a solution for that before the Outlaws, NSL, and the 410s show up.  Many MO drivers, notably Brown and Lasoski, won't run there with all of the equipment damage that goes on.  If they can fix that, the high banks should make for a "can't miss" show.

US36 amazes me.   I have gone to several shows that were absolutely amazing.   I think every midget race that I saw there was always a classic.   I have been to many winged shows that were also amazing.   I have also been there when it was nothing but a crash fest, or a follow a leader parade.

I will definitely go to this race, and hope it is in the amazing category.
