unless i miss my guess the car you guys are talking about will more than likely be at the Burg.....he has more at stake there......lot's of ppl heard what you heard.....and to be honest....i was shocked.....he is is a awesome driver and never thought he'd use it (TC).....but it might not have been his descition since he only drives the car. Life's short, play hard.

i dont think we are talking about the same car as he has nothing to gain or loose at the burg as far. as i know he is only a money racer and not tied to any one group at all or even partially

Boy oh freakin' boy.....

Ignition signal interference is relatively easy to detect, so why not install a monitor with a visible LED....roll across the scales, tech spec takes a look-see, badabing!

With the ABS technology available today it seems that a software engineer could, quite easily, enable a device to sense/measure wheel speeds (front vs rear sounds good to me) and electronically apply brake to control wheel spin thus eliminating auditory detection...

Oh wait they already have and guess what, it's cheap, readily available, and don't make a sound!

Anybody stop to think that maybe, just maybe, the guy in question is just better than you?

Faster pc hit it on the head! most people hear a motor missing assume cheating, it is the rev limit chip doing it job. I don't blame a car owner protecting his 30-40k motor.

ps most drivers suffer from hoof & brain strain. they can't lift to go FASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!

cc47...you didn't upset me at all....everythings cool here. I did hear a car during qualifing that sounded kinda funny, but wouldn't that be kinda dumb to have it on then, when you are the only car on the track? and this car will be at Fremont this weekend.....now the other car that people have accused of it being on will be at the Burg this weekend...I actually was having dinner with a crew member of this car after the races got rained out last week and he told me that many have accused them of using it...he just laughed.

Not so fast....

Tyler Walker was to have been hired to drive the water truck, but he failed another blood test.

I think you're all wrong about engines that sound like they have a miss having TC. They don't do it by dropping cylinders. Think about it for a second... you can only drop one cylinder per firing order rotation. You could drop more but the sound becomes obvious.

I believe it is done by changing the timing of each plug "fire". The software code to do this is relatively easy. The trick is to do it without wheel speed sensors. I also believe they alter the number of "fires" per each plugs' spark. It is called Multiple Spark Discharge, after all. You've all seen the MSD ad, where they have a wave form showing how many sparks, each with increasing intensity, account for each plugs' fire. I think altering the timing of each spark, the quantity of sparks', and the intensity of each spark, per plug fire, is how it's done. Imagine that, true TC and the motor never misses a beat!

Years ago, someone did come up with TC that worked by dropping cylinders, was somewhat crude. But the killer was, some kid came up with a Radio Shack meter that would pick up these "misses". Talk about stome cold busted!!

Not that I'd know, I'm just sayin..

9z...causing trouble over here, too? LOL You try so hard to give me a rough time...but this time you were mistaken. Glad Ed cleared it up for you.

That "other board" should be up and running again this weekend. Hang tight.

9z...you are incorrect (aka WRONG)...I never commented on the TC. See below. I quoted old man curly - it was not MY comment. I commented on how the heck he could be sitting in turn two when there are no seats there. (FYI - the board should be back up tomorrow or Sunday).

You were in turn two? When did they put seating in turn two?

So let me get this straight Jr...

You and your porch pilot brigade profess to be able to detect auditory differences ("sounds funny" for cousin Goober) in those cars with/without traction control devices?

A simple form of ignition signal interuption (timing is 'retarded' as revolutions per minute spike) is capable of making up to 400 adjustments per SECOND - you and your panel of experts cannot audibly detect any difference to the sound of an engine at 6,200 - 8,200rpm regardless of what you may want to believe. Especially after a couple of Silver Bullets...
