Sweet's car ran like a raped ape all night.  Heat, Dash, A main.... didn't matter, that car was always headed to the front.  I think if the race went caution free Schatz had a great chance of winning because of the way he was hooking the middle, but the Kahne kars (see what I did there) were fast all night.

Hats off to Lee Stauffer on the win.

Congrats to Rob Cappetta engines for 1st and 2nd.

Congrats to Ricky Warner for 3rd and winning the Outlaw championship.

Nice top five runs by Dietrich and Marks.

Ahhhh, there is one of the bigmouth Posse haters. Where were you when Stevie Smith kicked the WoO asses at the Natty Open or how about the Summer Nationals or DD the night before the Summer Nationals?? Silent you were. I live in Pa but I don't pound the Posse drum either. My driver has always been Super Sammy so I don't get into the WoO vs Posse fight but the Posse haters make me laugh. Big mouths when the WoO win and stunningly silent when the Posse win. Just can't give credit where credit is due. Oh well, your posts are always comedy gold and make me laugh. I loved the racing at Port last night and was pulling for the Big Cat, glad he won.

The best car by far in PA is driven by a part timer from oklahoma. The top full time posse car was 5th at the open and 4th yesterday. What Stevie and Rahmer are doing in the National Open the past 3 years is amazing, but not indicative of how competitve the rest of the field is.

At least they shut up when the Posse wins. The intellectually challenged and far too vocal minority among us Posse fans run their mouth no matter what happens. If the Posse wins, we're the best and everyone else from sea to shining sea is lapped traffic. If an outlaw driver wins, they look at every single part and crew member on those cars and try to find a Pennsylvania connection to make it a little less outlaw. Funny thing is, they'll be the first one to brag about Ricky Warner being from Pa when Schatz smokes the Posse yet bag on him when he finishes 10th with the same Pennsylvania born crew chief turning the wrenches. Like I said, intellectually challenged.....and that's just being politically correct about about it.

Stevie grew up most of his life in New Oxford, PA.  He moved to Broken Arrow, OK several years back.

Also, regardless of anyone's opinion of who PA, if it wouldn't be for PA, there is a great chance sprint car racing wouldn't be what it is today.  Aside from the Posse v. Outlaws rivalry, look at it from a business standpoint.

Engines:  Don Ott, Rider, Cappetta, HP Engines

Chassis: Mach 1, GF-1

Wings: Top Flight, Wings Unlimited, Wing Dynamics, Roach

Components, and rear Ends:  Ti22, WInters, DMI, Frankland

To my knowledge, there is not 1 single rear end being manufactured outside the state of PA.

Pennsylvania is great. There's nowhere in the world I'd rather live and there's 1 big reason for that: sprint car racing and lots of it. I sure as hell don't hang around here for the weather. We have a legacy of greatness here going back many years. Drivers, crew members, manufacturers of just about if not every part that goes to a sprint car, media and for the most part great fans. It's the intellectually challenged and far too vocal minority that gives us a big black eye.

why did the VL interviews sound like the KK drivers are fighting over 1 ride next year?

Sweet deal. Surprising, as i thought KK was down sizing the team. But good for Darrah.

That was a good race at Port Royal. Other than the WOO sweeping the podium, no complaints. LOL Schatz had taken 2nd from Sweet and was on Pittman's bumper when the caution came out with 6 to go. He was the best in traffic and would have won if it had stayed green. 1 thing I noticed with the fastest outlaw cars during this race was how locked down the cars are in the corners nowadays. It's like watching F1 instead of sprint car racing. They drive it straight through the middle on a slick 1/2 mile track without spinning a wheel, lifting much or getting sideways at all. I don't know what there secret set-up is but I miss the days when sprint cars backed 'er in and got sideways in the turns. I just think these cars are too locked down. Always been winged fan but maybe we need more non-wing and more bullrings in PA.
