You do know that you are opening up a whole new can of worms for him.  He is going to tell us that 95% of those ideas were his, and that is what he has been trying to get across to us for the last few years.

I guess I'm still intrigued by those old comic book ads to "Grow Earthworms in your spare time, make big $$!"

or was that Popular Mechanics?

But since Mandee put these out for the world to see, Altman will not get paid for any of these which he said in previous posts would be the only way he would let any of his ideas out.

I especially like #55

I attend the races almost every week at our local track, EXCEPT for their Fan Appreciation Night when everybody gets in free.  That's the night you'll see people at the races that you'll never see on a regular admission night.  The stands are packed so it must work, but I don't see how it's showing appreciation for the "FAN"???  I stay home on those nights as the lines to get in and out are ridiculous as well as concessions, restrooms, etc.  It's hard to watch the races as people are constantly going up and down the aisles, standing up, taking pictures, kids running all over, etc. etc.

If you want to show appreciation for the real fans, give them a punch card on their first visit.  Punch it every time they come to the races.  The do something like give them a free hot dog or drink after 5 punches and/or free admission after 10 or some other reward to show their "appreciation".

I always feel it's ironic that as a true fan, I stay home or go to another track on their appreciation night . . .

It is great to see someone thinking about making the races more enjoyable and entertaining for participants and spectators.   We need more people from her generation caring about dirt/short track racing.

Thanks for your commnets , good ideas here by Mandee Pauch , I wish some of these were put to work . Nothing new as was stated but the tracks won't try anything new even MS PAUCH'S ideas ,as most promoters are very closed minded . No , I don't want to be paid for any ideas  , as I said in past thread , just want to see more done for you the fans .

I liked a few of them, but what stood out to me were: 18) Flip/destroy fund: for teams that destroy cars (30) Discounts for regular weekly fans (42) Gas cards for longest distance fan (75) Bonus payout for finishing further back

Any thoughts?

I've been an every week fan at Knoxville for years. 83 mile trip 1 way. I have never felt the need or desire to be rewarded or given a discount simply for doing what I love to do and choose to do of my own free will...going to the best sprint car show in the word every Saturday night.

Plus, where does the money for this come from at most tracks? Discounts & gas cards have to be paid for somehow. And with many promoters working on a small margin and never knowing how much money they will lose to rain outs?

I can see that....

But if it brings in more fans, then promoter wins

Who knows....

Free passes cost absolutely nothing to the track and whomever uses them MAY bring people that have never been to a show, so you possibly have new fans.  You could try to get advertisers to donate gas cards.  Even smaller companies that do not contribute to sponsorship can donate these at a way lower cost than advertising.

Right. Sometimes you have to spend $ to make $. Think of the fortunes these big companies spend on TV ads. I often wonder if its worth it, but they seem to think so. I never ran a track, just suggestions....
