Knoxville/Jackson Big Part of 2016 FVP National Sprint League Schedule!

Windom, MN (October 13, 2015) – The FVP National Sprint League will continue its strong alliance with the Knoxville Raceway and Jackson Speedway in 2016. The two tracks will host over twenty races combined for the 410 NSL Series next season. The tracks will race on Friday and Saturday, creating great weekends of 410 excitement throughout the summer in the upper Midwest! In addition, NSL race purses will be getting a significant boost for those choosing to compete in 100% of the events.

“The Sprint Car Capital of the World”, Knoxville Raceway, in Knoxville, Iowa will host eleven NSL events in 2016. That will include a large two-day event July 1 and 2. Knoxville Raceway will continue to offer their hefty $100,000+ 410 Knoxville Championship Cup Series point fund plus contingencies.

Jackson Speedway in Jackson, Minnesota, received a facelift in 2015 that included the track and other amenities. That will continue in 2016, including a new and larger grandstand and suites and a new hard surface pit area. Jackson will host eleven events, most on Friday night, for the NSL. In addition, 2016 will see the return of the Jackson Nationals. Next year’s version will be a three-night event, September 2-4. This major event will include NSL 360 and 410 drivers from across the country!

Around a dozen additional events will be added to the NSL schedule. Many of those events will be co-sanctioned with other sanctioning bodies.

Larger Purse for NSL Members

The NSL will continue to offer a large point fund to drivers and owners participating in 100% of NSL sanctioned events.

NSL members participating in 100% of NSL events will also be racing for more on race night! NSL drivers with 100% participation will receive the following minimum feature purse at NSL events…

I count four times. Anyway, what are you getting at?

100% Cool as hell!

What other tracks are they racing at?

Does 100% mean same car and driver or car only or driver only, etc., etc

My point is two fold..

1. Seems to me a loss of incentive for non-NSL drivers to show up at a show for a reduced purse, how does that not affect car counts.  Gives the feeling of lower budget teams not treated the same because they don't have the funds to run full time with the NSL.

2. I can see this pulling Cars away from Husets on Saturday nights..

Don't get me wrong, I'm an NSL fan and Jackson is my home track, but I've already seen 5 tweets from drivers pissed about this. 

What kind of traveling series has 80% of its races at two tracks?  

I don't think Badlands will lose as many as you think.  From a financial standpoint and a winning standpoint, a driver might be better to head to Sioux Falls on Saturday.  Lasoski and Brown will dominate Knoxville.  You also have to have a big motor on that track.  Sioux Falls is more forving that way.  Just my two cents....

I see what you're saying, but it's not like the "locals" are racing for peanuts, they still have the chance to win $3,000, and that's pretty much the going rate across the country for a 410 show. Like others have said, it's an incentive. It rewards the teams who make the NSL races what they are, which is a display of the best teams in the region. That's what people want to see. There's a reason the WoO, All Stars, KWS, ASCS National, USAC National etc... offer incentives. It's there ass on the line if the fans don't like the product. All these touring series' have to protect their brand. Why would any "touring series" put all the money and opportunity out there for the racers and fans, assume all the risk, and then not take measures to insure they are providing the best product, and make it sustainable. I feel that's the key, sustainability, and the reason for the extra incentive. And yes, I believe it's also to give Chuckles the middle finger. I was and am believer in what Chuck is doing but he just took a big, big hit. Probably alot of "I told you so's" to come.

I'm on the fence on what I think about this.

While I do agree it may seem like a "middle finger" to Mr. Brennan, I'm not so sure that is the case.  Seems like this isn't something that would have come together overnight, my guess is this might have been in the works before Mr. Brennan's big Press Conference.

It feels like Mr. Brennan was premature in his schedule release without having contracts signed and ready to go (the reason why a lot of tracks and sanctioning bodies don't release schedules until well into the off-season).

Now, on the other side of the coin, it's a win/win for the NSL and Knoxville.  Knoxville has multiple races that should have all the top teams in attendance while the travelers see their purses go up, yet the "locals" are racing for the same purses they were before.  This allows Knoxville to increase the purse incrementally as opposed to a huge increase all at once.

Let's say 1/2 of the feature is filled with NSL regulars who participate 100%, the total purse the Raceway pays out might increase 30% or so.  Allows the track to not raise ticket prices and grow the fanbase hopefully.  The NSL gains a few cars that can now follow them full-time (because a majority of the races are at 2 tracks on a Friday and Saturday Night and now they only have to travel to 12 races the rest of the year to be a 100% member of the NSL).

That's good for the NSL (enticing teams to follow them full-time) and Jackson (more cars = more fans hopefully) and Knoxville (the top cars in the region at Knoxville pretty much full-time all season.

Do I think it will hurt Huset's?  Maybe, but I'm not 100% sure about that either.  How nice is it that the guys that bust their butts season after season but aren't big budget teams now get to race for more $$ with maybe a little less competition (Jody Rosenboom, John Lambertz, etc.)  This is GREAT for the locals that have supported Huset's for years if it means they don't have Lasoski, Brown, Madsen, T. McCarl, Zomer, A. McCarl, Kaeding and Dobmeier coming in and taking all the loot at the top of the heap.  If they have one or two of those on a regular basis, that still means those guys that normally finish 7th-15th are now racing for 3rd-10th and the purse $$ that comes with it.  I don't consider that a bad thing for 410 racing in Sioux Falls.  Would it be better if another 5 quality cars went to Huset's every Saturday and knocked those cars to running for 15th-22nd???

Why doesn't husets work with tod and knoxville to set up a big point fund and run 410 and 360 on Sundays and run fender cars on saturdays

1. As I said, Jackson is my home track, I grew up there and went to Husets (notice I didn't call it Badlands) maybe twice in my life.  I now live in Colorado and make the 700 mile trip back for the Jackson Nationals along with other Jackson shows each year.  As I said, I grew up there and want nothing but to make it as big as it was back in the 80s.  I'm not here with an agenda for Husets.. (check all my other newbie posts so you see anything else besides me posting anything about pro-Jackson??)   So your "agenda" comment is null, and it really just makes you sound stupid..  

2.  I get the incentive, and I have to be honest, I could care less if they pull cars away from Husets, because you are correct, they have no business running Saturday nights.  What the pawn guy did was try to pull cars away from Jackson and other tracks Sat by offering a bigger purse "incentive".  Todd has shot back with this "incentive" which only bothers me because the risk of hurting the sport in the midwest.  I haven't been to a Jackson weekly show for some time so maybe there aren't many SD drivers that make the trip like they used to, if that is the case then ya who cares.  I like seeing drivers that only show once in awhile for the bigger show.. IE Lou and Tom Kennedy.  I don't like the idea of an "incentive" of a driver earning 2k less beating the same cars because he or she can't afford to run the full schedule.  Does the WOO do this?  Maybe I'm in the minority, just my option.

3. As far as naming drivers, I won't throw all the lower budget teams under the bus as they are local and have a relationship with Todd, but I'll give you 1 who really doesn't care.

4.  Funny as it is, you and I both agree regarding Pawn guy.  I'll make this clear one last time so you understand my "agenda".  Pro-Jackson Anti-Pawn guy.

Looks like Jackson is now running Friday night sprints.  Which changes everything..

and now we wait for 360 engine rules to come...............

Knoxville Sat night Vs Huset's Sat night..  Well we all know who is going to win that one.

A triple crown between Jackson, Knoxville, and Husets on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday running each track for individual points and NSL points for the combined three for overall points sounds like a win for everyone. With those car counts Husets could run a sprint only Sunday show and a door banger Saturday show. No toes would be stepped on, not to mention you could almost drop the 100% purse incentive due to less competition between the tracks for certian drivers and could put the incentives more in the overall NSL point fund. Most guys would follow that league I am sure. If some want to only run one or two races a week they wouldnt be able to complain about unfair purses but would just not get a piece of the NSL point fund pie.

I thought something like this could work and would always be a possibility until Chuck stepped in.......

of course Badlands will be at the top of the list for one of the twelve other tracks as they were a big part of the 2015 schedule. HAHAHAHA

   So if I'm thinking correctly a @knoxvilleraces regular can win an @NSLSeries race and make less than an NSL regular that runs 3rd.

He should....he's doing nothing to promote the series. He's not taking a pay cut!

What was the purse for 2015? Did they drop the purse for non regulars? Or did they raise the purse for those who choose to support the series 100%? Truley just curious.
