As we are all well aware, the forecast looks like crap for the next 4-5 days. I was thinking that by now the WoO officials along with the Williams Grove staff must have some sort of back-up plan. What would be the odds of someone sharing this plan? Lots of money in travel and expenses coming up for some of us that may be salvagable if we get a heads up. Anyone?

There is a Sunday rain date built in this year. Doubt we'll here anything til thurs. at earliest. Be aware campers over 24ft. are being charged for 2 sites $80.

As for the the campers being charged for 2 spots... This is but another one of WG less than fan friendly decisions. I enjoy my 470 mi trip to the grove (couple times a year) but they are getting fewer and farther between.

What would you all like to see happen? What would you do as the promoter??
Do you want them to scrap the weekend already on Wednesday? or wait it out and hope for a race..They have a Sunday raindate...
It a terrible deal for all parties...WOO/WG stand to lose a ton of $$ on the first year they went to a 3 day show..The fans stand to lose travel time and $$....The teams...Geesh...They stand to lose the most....Come in for a 3 day show and only get 1 night in...If that...
I don't believe the deal with paying for 2 parking spots...I think people are trying to stir up problems as usual...I read where plenty of people parked their 31ft campers without issues...
If your so worried about it then make up your own back up plan and go where there is a 0% chance of rain...That is my suggestion!

Total no-win situation.
I assume the options are:
1) run a 1 day Sunday show if the weather clears up by then (although, we're going to get a ton of rain it seems, so will the grounds be good enough to bring thousands of people to the track?)
2) scrap the whole weekend and run a 2 day show next week (Thurs/Fri)
3) scrap the whole weekend and run a 1 day show next week (Fri)

Tough deal, but this weather isn't going to get any better.
Scrap the whole weekend and run a two day show on Oct 17-18.

Probably not this simple but cancel this weekend if sunday doesnt look any better and run Either Thursday and Friday and then Port Royal on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th. Maybe make all 3 of these races points based and the top finisher in points get $50,000?

The reports I'm seeing make it look more like a Monday/Tuesday deal at this point. You might have a window on Sunday but good luck with all the water that we are supposed to get. If I had a camper up there I would be getting the hell out now. 5-8 inches of water is going to make a mess.
Fyi I'm in a similar boat. Purchased reserved tickets and I'm going to most likely end up eating them If this plays out the way I fear being I cant do a Monday or tuesday show.

There's no way they will run the National Open on a Monday or Tuesday. The Outlaws are staying east for the next week.

Several years ago, they postponed the Open until the following Friday, then the outlaws traveled north to race Rolling Wheels on the scheduled Saturday of Super Dirt Week. This is an option again this year.

Yes that was one year when the race was postponed and run the next week without the Outlaw sanction and the Outlaw purse.
The year I am talking about, the race was won by Jason Meyers, one of 5 Outlaw wins in a row. He won the next night at Rolling Wheels also.

The Outlaws have a free weekend 10/29-10/31 this would be seem to be a nice fit. I spoke with the track Tuseday and they said this hasn't been discusssed yet.

I can't remember how many times the weather forecast looked bad for an Eldora race and they got it in. Since when can weathermen correctly forecast the weather? I don't care what the forecast looks like, I am heading to Eldora to see how it plays out. That being said, I live just an hour away, which I know doesn't fit everyone's scenario for the Nationals. I'm hoping for the best this weekend, there have been enough rainouts this year as it is.

Well, night 1 down and it is a rain out. Night 2 looks to go the same route. Are they seriously going to turn this massive 3 day event into a 1 night Outlaw show for the big money on Saturday night? Please tell me they have another plan in motion?

I remember the year Knoxville ran all 4 nights of the Nationals on Sunday during the day. Ran wens show, got everyone out of the stands, worked the track, let everyone with Thurs tickets in, ran Thurs show, etc. Long day for sure.
