Just want to clarify that as of today the amount collected for the National Open Rookie of the Year award stands at $1,365.00. That will probably be the final amount but I will send updates if that number increases. We thank everyone who has donated to this and we certainly hope this encourages several new drivers and teams to participate.

Update:
The Rookie of the Year award for the WilliamsGrove National Open, sponsored by the Beer Hill Gang, will now pay a minimum of $1500.00! Again, this will be awarded to the highest finisher on Saturday Night who has never previously participated in a WilliamsGrove National Open event. The stipulations are simply participate in all nights of this years National Open and finish ahead of all other first time drivers on the final night!
Besides several local central PA 410 Rookies to the event, there are plenty of drivers from Western PA, Ohio, All Stars, and many other series who would be eligible for this award!!!
We again thank everyone associated with the Beer Hill Gang for donating to this effort!

Glad i was not mistaken thought for sure i heard it announced Friday night. Grove must be putting up the extra money to make it 1500.00.
Sorry my computer skills are not that great first grader could have made that 4 a $!
Hope we do get some first timers with the car counts this year looks like it will be hard to get 50.

The $1500.00 prize money and trophy is 100% funded by the members and friends of the Beer Hill Gang. While WilliamsGrove Speedway and the World of Outlaws have approved the award, neither have added to the money pool as they are focused on the purse for the now 3 day event.
The goal is to find ways to attract more race teams to participate in the National Open. However it is expensive to compete for 3 days at WilliamsGrove, and with other competing events like the NSL in the mid-west and Atomic in OH it is simply difficult to get non-Outlaw or WG regulars to run. Also many lower budget PA teams have unfortunately competed in at least one previous National Open and therefore they are not eligible.
Hopefully posting a bonus like this to be the highest finishing Rookie will gain some traction, help pay for expenses for a team to compete, and we hope to continue to sponsors this award in the future and make it a regular part of the WG National Open Weekend.
It would be interesting to start compiling who are possible candidates to win this based on who plans to attend. Right now we believe Chase Dietz and Wayne Dadetto are certainly eligible and have plans to compete. There are a number of ASCoC regulars eligible plus some Western PA drivers like Carl Bowser and AJ Flick who ran this past weekend. Heard rumors of a couple more PA drivers as well, but nothing official! Anyone with any news please post!
Thanks everyone!!!

Just got word this morning that Carl Bowser won't be able to run in his own equipment this week. He has too much damage on the car from his hard hit at Lincoln Saturday night, plus blew an injector on the truck on the tow home.
If anyone's interested in putting him in a car or knows someone who might be, please get in touch - Kristin at 724-448-5120 or [email protected]. He would love to compete for this award, especially after his run on Friday night at the Grove.
Thanks to Beer Hill Gang for putting this together!!

I think the weather forcast will keep the car count down. Doubt that any long distance travellers other then WOO will appear. Hoping I am wrong.

This is an AWESOME award and a creative way to attract drivers outside of the region to make the tow. Kudos for putting this together.
As someone else mentioned I just read Carl Bowser needs some help to get to the Natty Open (see a few posts up). Certainly looked good last Friday, his first time to the track.
Thanks again Beer Hill Gang!
