It's called promoting dude and Fred does it better than anyone. So what if it wasn't $10,000 winner take all. If that was the case, that's none of my business or your business. That's between Fred and the guys who are writing the checks for the cars and strapping into them and driving them. If he wanted the fans to know, we would know. It doesn't take away from how great of a night it was at all. In fact, I actually feel better knowing the guys who showed, got a little bit of money out of it after all. Promoters all over the country have been selling snake oil since people have been racing cars to try and create hype and fill the seats and they always will.

If Danny didn't win 10k, why did the check in victory lane say 10,000$?? Not disagreeing with what you said just asking because I was not there.

Can someone post a picture or two of Keith Kauffman and Kenny Jacobs from last night? I'm assuming Keith was in a throwback Al Hamilton 77 and Kenny in a Weikert's 29? I love those cars and drivers when I was younger. Were they selling shirts for those two? Thanks!

Thanks for the tip.
LOVED the Hamiltom/Kauffman car, as well as the Siegel 2 and the Weikert 29. Almost brought a tear to my eye looking at those pictures. Those were the good ole days for sure! Did they have 410s in them and did they drive them at normal speed? No "Brickmobile"?

If it was winner take all, I don't think you would have had a 410 race last night. Gotta think the drivers got together and said they were not going to risk their gear for the chance of nothing. In my opinion, I didn't like the match race. Winner came off the front every time, when Hodnett dropped out - the one car row seemed kinda silly. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the show but out of the three divisions, the 410 match race was the least favorite part of the show for me.

Wayne telling Post to calm down was the crowd pleasing moment of the night.
Why do some announcers insist on making everything out to be an "over the top moment" when it clearly doesn't need the carny style crap?
Glad none of the legends were injured...even more glad....the show drug on like manufacturers night IMO.

They were 410s, Shepard turned the fastest lap of hot laps at 13.498 out of everyone and Shaffer and Adams averaged around a 14.5 in the 8 lap heat races to win them, which was comparably to the match race times. The top 5 of the Legends race wasn't a big surprise, all of them have been in cars within the past few years. I think KJ ran in the last week or two.

Give or take, this is correct. Fred was more than willing to pay $10,000 winner take all. It makes sense as Hodnett broke a lifter and Krimes had a rocker break in their motor. $1200 goes a long way for a strictly local team like Krimes.

I didn't lie. I said Dietrich got the bulk of the money. Fred would have paid $10K to the winner, but the drivers decided on the split. Don't blame them for doing it. These things are expensive and every lap dips into the wallet.
To me, the draw of this thing was the legends. I don't think anyone cared about the pay or purse of the Challenge event. Think they were showing up for past heroes.

People will bitch about anything. I wasn't able to make it due to working late, but after debating with myself I did buy it on Dirtstation and watched the entire show live. Couple things: Halfway through the legends driver interviews I was glad I spent the money. Getting to see the old cars, hear the drivers, and then the two 88s making a race out of it was more than worth it. Also glad no one was hurt, but that's every night. It did appear the guys that had been in cars the past 2-3 years were there to race and the guys that hadn't been in them in 15, 20, 30 years were there to have fun and stomp on a 410 a few times. Once with Siegel and another time with Steve Smith I saw them get into the inside wall and move up, but otherwise I thought those guys did a great job of putting on a show without getting out of hand. From what I was told from family members that were with some of the drivers, they all had an absolute blast just getting the chance to run a car again. The 358 feature was very good, when the tracks good, they usually are. The shootout was probably my least favorite part, but still good with fast 410s racing each other as hard as possible, I just don't think 5 laps burst with only 5-6 cars puts on great racing no matter who's driving them on any track, maybe 3 races that were at least 10 laps would have been more competitive. Still glad it was part of the show. It had been a few years since I tried to watch a race online, but last nights Dirt Station product was by far the best I've experienced. I had 1-2 hiccups that easily could have been my internet connection, and they were cleared up with a quick refresh. The racing coverage was as good as I've ever seen for sprint cars, with the camera instantly panning to any passing or action that was occuring on track. I was genuinely impressed and hope that type of coverage becomes common place (or maybe it and I just am out of the loop?). As far as I'm concerned, last night was a solid success.

The highlight for some fans was the fact that the 410 startline was at the entrance to turn 3 with no restart cone
I'm pretty certain they were all 410s, I beleive the follwing is correct
Bobby Weaver = his own car
Steve Stambaugh = Rahmer
Steve Siegel = Seigle racing
Cris Eash = Anthony Macri
Todd Schaffer = Rahmer
Lynn paxton = Rahmer
Keith Kauffman = Rahmer
Steve Smith = Rahmer
Jeff Sheppard = Tim Wagaman
Kenny Jacobs = Tyler Ross
Kenny Adams = Don Ott
Billy Pauch = Zemco

I have also used Dirt Station this year and thought they were the best PPV hands down. My plans to watch last night were foiled by my late arrival from a chasing the white ball around game.....

Stambaugh said last night that Mike Heffner provided his car. Thanks to everyone who put cars together for these guys to run. It was an amazing night.
