I heard that Doug Wolgang was going to race in the Legends Race in PA. Can anyone confirm this.

He was scheduled to race in a throwback Weikert car, but apparently has pulled out due to family issues. He's being replaced by the Mouse Kenny Jacobs.

Are they really gonna race, or just an exhibition?

This is not exhibition racing.. The other part of the show will be great. 6 drivers running 5 lap races, each driver starting in each position, tallying points. Highest point total get $10,000

Heard this may be falling apart as far as the legends go. Story going around is that the legends are not getting paid to race. Nothing. Their expenses to come in here are on them too. The race for $10,000 is for the "shoot out" or whatever between the guys we see race every week. Cancelling my plans to go unless I hear Legends are getting something out of this. Otherwise it all goes to Lincoln and Rahmer.

Nothing is falling apart. Everybody but Wolfgang is still racing that was on the list and the "Mouse" is taking his place. The Legends knew what they were agreeing to, and seem to be excited to do it, as most of them have been out testing either at Susky or at Lincoln. My understanding is that Rahmer (with help of course) is the one putting together the cars for the Legends to run, all with throwback paint schemes. Some of them have already had T-Shirts made to sell with the cars on them (Pauch's Zemco shirts look pretty sweet). The 5 lap races are going to be fun and there is full show of 358's also.
If you don't want to go, don't go. If the weather is good Lincoln will still be packed, but don't make it sound like somebody is getting screwed in this deal. Rahmer put his neck on the line and has promoted the hell out of this show, if it isn't successful or the weather stinks, he takes a bath on it. Why should he have to give the people involved more than was promised from the beginning when they signed on.

Some of your statements aren't entirely true.

Doug was referring to two different events. One an exhibition that was entirely cancelled and planned now for next year, and the other is Rahmer's event that is still on and is a race. One can speculate many scenerios as to why Doug pulled out of Rahmer's event, but only Doug and his family really know the answer to that.

That Shotout sounds pretty cool too. Hodnett, Dietrich, Monteith, Blaney & 2 others, each starting in every position of 6 heats for $10,000? I'd go, but I'll be in Kokomo instead
Fred has some goog new ideas!

I don't think it's a big deal at all that the legends don't get paid and I don't think any of them care either. Fred isn't screwing anybody, in fact, he's doing these guys a favor. I'm sure they're all pretty excited to relive the past for and evening just like us fans are and Fred and his people are the ones putting all of the pieces together to make it happen for them. To me its understandable that the legends don't make anything simply due to the costs involved in providing these cars and doing all the vinyl for them and stuff. It's your choice if you don't wanna be there but I don't think I'd pass this up if I were you. Obviously the $10,000 all or nothing shootout is going to awesome but the opportunity to see Paxton, Steve Smith Sr, Mr. Excitement, the Jet and all the others mix it up again in cars with their old paint schemes will be really cool. I can't wait

I think anybody that thinks this is an exhibition is full of shit. You actually think these guys are going to climb back in a sprinter & not give it all it's worth ???

If you read between the lines I think Dougs wife is not in favor of his doing this. She has every right to say so because she has gone thru alot with his 2 accidents. You can only get hit in the head so many times(Jan Opperman).

That's kinda what I thought too. It's disappointing for us fans but ultimately, his health is far more important than me or anyone else wanting to see him drive a sprint car. It would've been cool but I totally understand if he had second thoughts or his wife talked him out of it. Sometimes you gotta have your priorities and I'm sure in the end, he wants to be healthy and spend as much time as possible with his wife, kids and grandchildren.

I'll throw my lot in with the wife saying "you get in one of those cars again and I'm outa here". That's what mine would say if I fried my legs and broke my neck a couple times in one of those things. LOL
