Agreed.  He was witty and knowledgable without being overbearing.  A nice addition to the group.

He was entertaining at first, but a bit much after a while

I would prefer factual updates to all that forced "lets party" stuff

Screw the cellphone routine....

If he was good maybe he should take Johnny Gibson 's job with the Outlaws , as you know what Johnny Gibson's going to say before he says it , whoops I know everyone likes Johnny

I have to agree that Wade was awesome. He's entertaining, asked educated questions and was enthusiastic.

Great Job Wade and to Knoxville for bringing him in!

I liked him, and I usually hate the "is everybody having a good time?" annoucers. He was really witty and knew his stuff. The announce team for the Nats is pretty top notch now. Bokhoven for the sponsors, Gibby for the actual race knowledge, Wade for the yucks. It worked well.

I thought Wade was pretty funny most of the time, I do think the cell phone thing got a little much by the time the A-Main rolled around because it was the fifth time he had done it in 4 days.  But, some of his quips were great, his energy was awesome, and the interaction with the couple getting engaged was priceless.

The only time that he really got on my nerves was after Swindell was finally taken out in the ambulance and they pushed the cars off from the red flag, he made a comment that the crowd was too quiet for a Sprint car race, and they needed to show some energy.  Just a few minutes before, the emergency crews had put up white sheets, which made everyone think that the worst had happened for a moment (Thank God for Tony B immediately announcing that Kevin was awake and talking to the crews), it was pretty understandable that no one was going to show "energy" for a little bit.

BTW, with the amount of effort and time that Johnny Gibson puts into promoting this sport (yes I know its his job, but he is a pretty big fan even when it isn't), not too mention how knowledgeable he is about Sprint Car racing, which is a prerequisite for being a good announcer, did I just see someone want him to get fired and replaced by Wade.  Classy.  I guess he is the one that never responded to those infamous emails.

I greatly enjoyed the announcing.  I personally don't care for all the "wave" and cellphone stuff, but it's not a big deal.  I like Mr. Gibson, Mr. Bokhoven, and thought Wade Aunger was awesome.  I laughed my ass of at him all week and I hope he's a permanent fixture at the Nats.

Glad Wade is finally getting his due. He's been 1 and 1a in the sprint car worod as an announcer for years along with fellow Aussie Gavin White. They are the voices of the Grand Annual Sprint Car Classic, the Knoxville Nats of Australia and it gets no better than those two. Think we got to hear Wade call one race in Tulare this year stateside and he's much much more than just an infield announcer everybody get happy guy. - Ron

I liked him, He was Entertaining. My biggest gripe was that I wished that what he was saying & doing and the Video screen were more in sync with each other. Take McMahon & David Gravel Helmets for example, He was doing an interview with Paul about the "Bowers Coal" Helmet and for just a second there the Jumbo tron was showing the interview and then while he was still explaining the different aspects of the helmet the camera just goes to a FVP screen or some other advertisement. Put a Picture to the voices we are hearing is all I am saying.

Yea, especially during the race! Announcers would be calling one duel while cameraman was showing another....

Wade was great during the Capitani Classic, the rest of the week he good doing onsite interviews in the pits with drivers. The thing that kind of miffed me was before the races started when the trucks were going around - did the WoO pay for Johnny to play his recording of sponsor notes? I would have loved to hear some driver interviews during that time.

It's much better getting natural, original and good content as opposed to ads. I know there's not a lot that folks on here can agree with but I think this is one that should be across the board.

Entertaining and knowledgable commentary adding to the already stout Nationals announcing team. Hope he returns.

Wade has announced at Knoxville in the past along with Eldora and recently this year at Tulare.  He has been around the sport for a long time and is a legend in his home country.  In real life few people have as much fun as Wade does and it shows when he gets behind the mic.  Somebody should reach out to him to add to this thread a bit of bio info, wouldn't hurt.....

Wade also was one of the announcers on TV when the Outlaws ran on the Topeka dragstrip and Andy Hillenburg won. 2000?
