Bryan Clauson and Jonathan Byrd Racing have been teasing a "press conference" along with Matt Wood Racing this Thursday at the Nationals. Speculation/rumors have been full time WoO in 2016. Anyone have any insight?
Guessing Byrd Racing will have to put up lots of capital to make the move from a Midwest based team (NSL) to full time WoO if true. Then again maybe it's something completely different...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it has more to do with BC running an expanded Indy car schedule next year. I feel pretty strongly about that. That said I also believe there will be more races run with a wing next year as well. Just a strong hunch.
Cheers!

Byrd indicated in a tweet a while back that BC would not be at Indy as his other commitments would keep him to busy. To me that leans towards the 17w heading on the Woo trail which I think would be awesome. Think they are going the Larson Marks route in using this year to get their stuff ready. Heck they just had a post on here looking for another crew guy.

And the 17w team just posted a position for an additional crew member. WoO tour next year could be a strong possibility

Would be odd to announce an indycar deal at knoxville. I'm with all of you, I think woo.

Joe Dooling told me what BC is going to do next year and its pretty damn cool. Since Joe is one of our sponsors in the Ameri-Flex / OCRS series, I will respect their press release timeline and not 'spill the beans' early but I will say this.....BC is going to need to take his vitamins in 2016.

David Byrd was pretty adamant that BC would be driving for them at Indy next year according to the latest SC&M magazine article.

I'm thinking they will be announcing a WoO ride with Matt Wood Racing and I hope they will be announcing the team Clauson will drive for at the 100th Indianapolis 500 (Jonathan Byrd's Racing got him in with KV Racing this year, but I could see Jonathan Byrd's and Clauson moving to a different team).

I'm thinking more of a partnership for the WoO team between MWR and Byrd as someone above mentioend the "Larson Marks route" (not only from a using this year as testing/tuning but also from the "partnership team" standpoint). I'm not too familiar with the MWR team so I'm not aware of their fiscal status, but a partnership between the two may allow for the necessary capital to run the full WoO schedule.

Seems a bit early to me. Clauson is an exceptional shoe in several different kinds of car, but in my opinion he hasn't had the success yet to jump to the WoO tour. If he did, I imagine he'd be in the Kraig Kinser/Jason Sides/David Gravel group, more a Gravel type who will probably run mid-pack but have the capability to rattle off a few wins.
I think they'd be best suited spending another year running a regional deal with extra travel like they have this year. He's shown good promise (ie: quicktime at King's Royal), but he's only had a handful of top fives in the winged car this year and has only had one or two podiums.
Not knocking him here - just an observation. I am a Clauson fan and bought one of his shirts at Knoxville earlier this year. Would love to see him get to WoO at some point but I think next year is a bit ambitious.

Agree completely with this. Clauson is definitely a major talent, but limited time with a wing. NSL is a tough series where he could gain valuable seat time and experience against top notch competition in a regional travleing series. Perhaps the announcement is an NSL schedule with more "true outlaw" trips planned in?
IF it is a move to WoO he'd definitely be in that second tier, but that may not be a problem as a rookie. As long as they progress, find consistency and maybe steal a win or two that may be good for a rookie campaign. I agree that another year (or two) as a regional traveler with NSL might be better route. But hey, it's not our money or goals Team/crew chief have to be better than Destiny right?

I'd agree that the stuff is probably better than Destiny but there's no way for me to know that outside of just eyeballing it.
I think Gravel's a better winged car driver at this point - guy has won some big races (prelim at the Nationals, National Open). Think he's just stuck in a bad ride at this point (ie: the old Wright Construction 35).

I seem to type "agree" a lot with your posts Gravel definitely one of best young winged talents in the country...just yeah, stuck in a bad ride for sure.

This turned out to be something they're calling Circular Insanity - 200 races next year.
105 winged sprint car races, 30-40 midget races, 30-40 wingless sprint car races.
Very cool idea and could pay some dividends for BC. Love the attitude they're taking towards it.
Starts January 1 in New Zealand. Cool deal.

I wish wingless paid more, cause he's excellent at that (top 2 or 3, right?) & just OK with a wing....
Oh well, had to miss Knoxville, planning on Kokomo Smackdown.... no "R word", this year, please!
