The Dream race drew 33 cars this past Saturday by far the lowest count for this race, they either need to change the date
or come up with something new only three Lincoln cars and Blaney and Ryan Smith along with the regulars for $10,000
does not make for a $27 show.
Letting the kids do The Revenge Draw almost decided the winner.

It seems to me that some of the Lincoln boys don't feel they are competitive enough to visit the bigger tracks. I give Krimes kudos for being there....in another car. But there is that one big name that never shows up at Port. How he can be considered one of the best in central PA when he seldom leaves his comfort zone is beyond my understanding. I guess I'm not too smart.

Your right in some ways but it is a bad time for this race , right before Knoxville . And it is the growing trend that some drivers are not allowed to travel by there owners or for other reasons and they all have different reasons it seems not to visit other tracks , a lot of teams don't go to Selinsgrove or Grandview either . It now seems 1 night or 2 nights at the most is all teams can afford to race anymore.

Yes, this race does need some changes for all concerned or move it to another time not before Knoxville .

Actually there were 35 cars there and I do believe someone in another board explained why it's held this time of year. This always was and is a big race for the locals, non sanctioned and such. A way for the Pa guys to have a big money race without including WoO or ASCoC. So hence the reason it's held when it is. Not sure how so many can bitch about this race when the night's purse total was around $80,000 and they drew 35 sprints and 28 late models. And you can't expect Lincoln guys like Haas, Siegel or a host of others to come when they won't be competetive. Even porch dweller Montieth was good at Port for a while then started stinking up the joint. Next thing ya know he has been a no show for the big races there for quite some time now. No loss for Port, plenty of stars come out. I think they were good with the likes of Hodnett, Dewease, Blaney, Ott, Wolfe, Dietrich and others being there without the porch dwellers.
I have to agree about the revenge draw, that was D U M B . It's not a revenge draw if you let kids do it and they know nothing about the drivers. When they asked one kid who he was gonna give his number to his response was " that one right there ". Uhh, ok.

The point to be made is that at least some of those that made the trip to Knoxville also were at the Dream...... I agree a different date would be better for those teams planning the Knoxville trip but there are many, many other teams having no plans for a western trip that didn't show at Port.

Good comments Steelcityguy , yes it is big race for the local guys and they need more big races that are not sanctioned to give all the teams a chance to win some money .

Revenge draws are a joke...no real racing division bothers with that nonesense for big purse races.
it appears more Lincoln cars showed up for this race than Port cars for Speedweek races at Lincoln...does port have a porch or a veranda?
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

Maybe so but the argument could be made that the Lincoln speedweek shows were midweek surrounded by the other speedweek shows. As perviously stated by others, some/many teams can't afford to race that much. On the other hand Lincoln had no 410 race when the Dream race was run. I assume that was intentional. Nothing against Lincoln - it's a great facility. Both fans AND teams need to support all of the tracks - when they can afford to do so. I'm a regular at Port and Selinsgrove and visit Lincoln and the Grove a few times per year.
As a fan I just wanted to see all of the best PA 410 drivers competing together in one of the best paying PA events that didn't include the All Stars or WOO. To be missing two or more of the top talents was dissapointing.
I agree that the revenge draw didn't work out so well. I suspect Port management won't have youngsters pick the drivers again. However, I do appreciate's Port's desires to involve the youngsters.

It is ashame that more cars did not come no matter what track they race at . It would be nice to see all the cars together in one place when there is only one major race going on , but it is the times unfortunately each team or owners have there individual reasons why they don't make certain shows or tracks. But everyone suffers the teams don't earn money and the fans don't see drivers they don't regularly see . I believe the teams start running out of money about this time and they select or plan out what races they want to race at or for the bigger races such as not only Knoxville but Grove National open , Tuscarora 50 and others . I don't care what some fans may think its showing up everywhere and not just here , watch the car counts around the country .

So who do you blame when the track puts up good money and cars stay home? I'd put the blame on the owners of the cars that left them sit , not on the date.

you brown nose enough teams / promoters...why don't you ask them?
Maybe you can blame social media like you did the last time you had a genius moment...

When the last 10 places pay enough to cover the cost, you will get more teams. Paying big $$ for the win DOES NOT bring in more cars. The cars with a realistic chance to win, will still show up for a $5k race and thus the extra money to win does nothing to increase cars

BRR clueless as ever !
Cobra...that approach was done the first few years (not $1000 to start though) of The Dream with extra bonuses , give aways and such, the car counts kept falling and something had to give I guess. I'd cut the purse even more and up the LM purse. Those guys will race for money.
