in my opinion the races at Jackson were pretty darn good for what time jon had to work with. yea the car counts were down, but the racing was some of the best ever. in the sprints one of the post said the race between billy boles and gordy vogelaar reminded them of the vogelaar/spies days, in my mind the vogelaar and schnee days also. the double barrells did their best and there is some talent there. what can i say about the door cars as much as i do not like them the two classes put on some of the best racing all year. and they are winning me over( i can not beleave i said that)

after attending worthington twice so far this year i am so glad the mods are gone. yellow after yellow

nothing against the mod drivers, crews or fans this is just my opinion. we all have to remember that this was a start over year at jackson, i think it was a very good start. as the year went on the fans were coming back slowly.

i did not get to attend the nationals and from what i heard it was the only black eye of the year. dan strandberg told me there were some upset drivers, which there should have been but jon was in a no win situation on this one. mother nature always wins.

i can not wait till next year.

I was impressed on my one trip to Jackson this year. It looks like they've got a good start to rebuilding the program down there.

My take on racing this season is that car counts have been down everywhere and it's harder to fill the stands. Not just Jackson but everywhere and I attribute that to the economy and fuel prices. Even the Knoxville Nationals was down to around 105 cars and you could see a lot of empty seats on the TV broadcast. People blamed Knoxville's lower than normal car count and softer than usual crowd on television. The point is that people have been quick to blame internal factors in the sport such as television, sanctions, rules, promoters, etc, but I think we need to look at the big picture across the board. Not just how many 360's show up at Jackson but how many Super Stocks show up in northern Minnesota how many Mods are at Iowa tracks, and so forth. I think if what I have observed is true, that car counts are down across the board, then it's not just a Sprint Car problem or any particular class or track but it's short track racing in general.
