As of now, Ryan Smith isn't running. Hope that changes though.

Also hope that changes. Like what Ryan is putting together this year.

The past couple of years the Knoxville regulars/NSL has had a good showing, with the Woo placing about the same amount.
I'd expect Donny, Madsen, McMahan, Saldana, Sweet, Pittman, and Shane all to be in the A,
NSL possibles: Brown, Craig Dollansky, Henderson, Bryan Clauson, Tim Kaeding, Dobmeier, TMAC, Tatnell, Zomer, Davey Heskin, Lynton, Ian Madsen, Bronson,

Schatz is head and shoulders above the rest of the field.
After that, I'd say Stewart, Lasoski, Brown, and Henderson are the next group. Stewart has had great success at the Nationals historically - he's been there a lot come Saturday night.
Lasoski has been bad fast all over the Midwest this year, including Knoxville, and Henderson has been virtually just as good at Knoxville. Brown has shown he can be very good but has just been off this year - bad luck and overall underwhelming performance.
The Pittman/Sweet love is kind of odd to me - it's a name-brand thing I'm thinking. They haven't historically done well at the Nationals. I'd put Saldana/McMahan above both.
Madsen is a wildcard. He looked great at the WoO show in June and was nearly a tenth faster than anyone else in the field IIRC. He could be a surprise contender or also could mire in the middle of the pack.
Stevie Smith and Hodnett are pretty much solid locks. Both have the skill, experience and equipment to where they should make the field.
There's some other Knoxville locals who deserve recognition - McCarl and Madsen are there. TMAC is capable of putting together a top five, possibly even a podium. Madsen hasn't been as good as he was last year but is another that can run with almost anyone at Knoxville.
Sammy has been good since linking with the CJB team and has a wealth of experience. That team has top-notch equipment, so he's definitely a contender but as we know at Knoxville, a small thing goes wrong and the whole weekend is shot.
It will be like any other Nationals over the past 20 years - you have one guy who comes in as the odds-on favorite (Schatz), a solid group of contenders that are more than capable of dethroning him, and some wild cards who could make for a historic weekend. Some will have bad weeks, some will have surprising weeks. It's impossible to accurately predict. Hopefully there's just great on-track action.

+1 I understand that he is no longer turning wrenches. He just tells the crew what to do, then he just drives.

Tatnell has not ran that great this year. he must be frustrated.I hope things changes for him and the team.

Pittman has been in the A main for the past 8 years + with at least one top 5 and a few top 10s. Correct me if I'm wrong but he's MAYBe missed one A.
Sweet has been in the A and B main the past few years as well, and I believe won an outlaws race last year at Knoxville.

I really think we will see 1 or 2 more NSL/Knoxville regulars in the show than WOO full timers. Worst case I think they will have the same amount but I would bet money that the NSL/K-Ville guys fill more spots of the 24. If they are still giving the 25th starting spot to whoever wins the World Challenge or whatever that could possibly change the balance.
With the NSL/K-ville group containing Lasoski, Henderson, TMAC, Keading, I Madsen, Brown, Clauson, Zomer, Heskin and so many other guys that run Knoxville often I think the outlaws are outgunned.
I doubt that there will be more than 2 current Posse regulars in the A... Stevie seems like an almost sure bet. Of Hodnett and Dietric(sp?) I bet one gets in but doubt that they both do.
Doubt we see more than 2 AllStars regulars in the show. Balney being my strongest pick, either Schaffer or Kemenah next but likely not both of them.
Seems like every year at least 1 IRA regular finds his way into the main.
Probably will end up seeing one California-KWS guy in the show but that's anyones guess.
Not really sure which group you would put guys like Jason Johnson, Wayne Johnson, Aaron Reutzel, Jeff Swindell and Johnny Herrera in, but if we call them ASCS regulars I think a 2-3 ASCS regulars make the show.
What group contains Sammy, Rico, Chris Bell, Dobmier, Kevin Swindell, Brad Loyet and other guys with similar schedules this year? True Outlaw group I guess? This group will have no problem getting a few guys in the A.
The hardest part of this whole guessing game to me is figuring out what group many of these guys fit in this year. The really cool part is that the addition of the MOWA series a few years ago and the NSL this year has really strengthened the caliber of 410 racing in the central part of the USA. More guys with good equipment getting more seat time in 410s and raing against more good guys more often raises the bar compared to when a bunch of guys only put a big motor in a few times a year.
I can't wait to see how it all shakes out.
Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.

Lynton Jeffrey has been qualifying very well recently at Knoxville and Nsl shows. Finished 8th with the Woo when they stopped there in June. He should definetly be considered as a contender for an A-Main spot.

Knoxville/ NSL 8- Henderson, Lasoski, Brown, Kaeding, Dobmeier, Madsen, McCarl and Zomer
WoO 8- Schatz, Pittman, Sweet, Saldana, Stewart, McMahon, Madsen and Johnson
Posse 2- Hodnett and Smith
ASCS 2- Reutzel and Johnson
NASCAR young guns 2- Abreu and Bell
Swindells 2- Sammy and Kevin
All-Stars 1- Blaney
Assumes that they are still doing the 25th starting spot
