Taken off Williamsgrove message board, not sure of the total amount raised.
For those of you who didn’t know………..on Saturday at the Natty O we had a little party.
In the Grand Ballroom on the Mezzanine level of the Tilton Hilton this past Saturday the National Open Chili Cook-Off was held. As usual, the event was a big success and there are many folks to thank. Below is my attempt to send out thanks to all those involved. If I overlook you in the merci department, please take no offense. My memory isn’t what it used to be, but please know that we are eternally grateful for your help, time, generosity and dedication. Thanx!!
First off, Brent and the Hilton Staff. Without a place to hold this event, we'd be out in the street. Many of Brent’s friends and regular camping buddies get shuffled to the side for this event and we owe them a debt of gratitude. Thanx!!
Our sponsors were a big part of this years success. Cleveland Brothers, Sundance Vacations, ProMotion Graphics, Weikel Sportswear, Sports Plus Video and Sutliff Hummer were instrumental in making this event a success. For your generosity we are grateful. Sponsors like you are underappreciated. Please folks, do your best to support our generous sponsors. Thanx!!
To our webmaster and one of the chili competitors Lefty............many thanx. You give us our own special place in cyberspace and we are eternally thankful. Thanx!!
To the dedicated people that sacrifice countless hours to plan and execute this event……….we are forever in your debt. These folks, as well as all the others I will fail to mention, sacrificed a beautiful, relaxing Saturday to toil over the confusion that is the National Open Chili Cook-Off. In no particular order………..The Gates Family, Brent Leach, Grove Girl, Grammy and Val, Oliver and Donna Henninger, The Kimmel’s, Mrs. Q and Q, Smitty, Skinner and SP, BRR, c4, Mike and Tracy Root, Fishman, The BeerHill Gang, filmguy, Larry, motorsportsunlimited, Mr. and Mrs. Orange Crate, Wimp, Jordan Givler, Mark Coldren, Dan Richcreek, the NSCBBA, Brian and Jacky Harris, LB and crew, Rusty and countless others are to be commended. Many, many, many, many thanx to anyone who had anything to do with the execution of this event………..your dedication is priceless. Thanx!!
To the judges……….Grammy, Brian Harris, Sarge, Barry and one who I can’t remember, who effectively sifted through 19 different chili entries, we appreciate your work. Possibly a gift of Tagamet would be appropriate. If we could just think about tasting 19 different batches of chili and trying to sincerely appreciate and score each one, we would know what a task they performed. Thanx!!
To Mr. Harper and the Cleveland Brothers, we are in your debt for a fine afternoon of entertainment. You gave our event a party atmosphere this year. Thanx!!
To the staff at Williams Grove Speedway, we thank you for our cooperation and help. Thanx!!
To the chili chefs who prepare the vittles, many thanx. Sure there’s a prize raffle and some other stuff going on, but you folks are why we have the event. Your dedication to your craft and your imagination and effort put into assembling your booths is nothing short of amazing. You give the afternoon a feeling of festivity. Thanx!!
To any fan who donated a raffle prize or money to this event……..thank you. Your generosity is legendary, and none of this would be possible without you. Once again the race fans of PA show why they are the best…………without question. Thanx!!
To the drivers, crew members and team owners of Central PA, we are eternally grateful. Your generous donations make this event make it a special one. We sincerely appreciate the entertainment you provide year in and year out. Thanx!!
To the drivers that participated in the autograph session………..many thanx!! Your donated time is a big reason for our success. Filmguy and motorsportsunlimited need special thanx for their dedication to making this portion of the day successful. Many hours were spent putting this session together and we are all grateful. Thanx!!
To GroveGirl, Dave Smith, Todd Zinn, c4 and Andrew Rucker, the products, talent and effort you put forth to make this event special to the younger crowd are appreciated. These young folks are the future fans and competitors of this sport and you folks made a memorable afternoon for them. Thanx!!
To the Kimmel family and those who assembled Billy's back-up car, many thanx for sharing Billy's car with all of us. It was nothing short of humbling to have such a fitting tribute to Billy at our event. Our well wishes are with each and everyone of you. Thanx!!
As mentioned earlier, I am sure that I have overlooked many people who need to be acknowledged and thanked. If anyone knows of someone who should be mentioned, please feel free to add on here. Please know that we appreciate your help and generosity in making last Saturday a special one. Thanx!!
