The end of race was exciting and I think track will hold close to 300,000 people so maybe  they only had 125,000 people, I would call that a good crowd at any race.

For me, I thought the racing was terrible.  Talk about no passing... Congrats to Busch on a four in a row and there was some interest to see who would get lead on a restart, but after that no one could pass.

IndyCar is much better actual racing

watched about 5 minutes, didnt really see any racing, pitiful fan turn out, the Brickyard used to be the second highest paying event the Cup series held, wonder if thats still the case, if so how do they do it with such a sparse crowd, and sponsors cutting back advertising funding in Nascar?

NASCAR is losing fans because it's boring. I haven't watched an entire race from start to finish in years.

Nascar shame on you!  Ive in my 58 years of racing never seen a 4 hour commercial session with a 15minute race throw in.  My God in heaven the commercials where merciless and endless and how does Nascar think theyll keep people watching like that? I mean I get paying bills but serious folks it was like nothing Ive ever seen or will see again.  Nascar you just lost me and my family watching ever again, EVER!!!

NASCAR pays the bills with TV money. Where do you think the huge salaries for stick and ball atheletes comes from? Also, Xfinity race is on NBC which everyone gets while the Brickyard is on NBCSN. Sounds like NASCAR did us a favor by not putting it on NBC.

The Saturday race, Xfinity/Infinity/Busch series/whatever..., crowd was laughable. You could have easily put all of the Indy grandstand crowd in the first 3 section of Knoxville. Maybe it is time for them to re-evaluate their product. The fans have caught on, just a matter of time before the sponsors do too.

The end of the race was a good show to me. Young Blaney was doing a great job holding off Bucsh till an ill timed lapped car spoiled it.

I think your estimate is pretty accurate at 60,000.

I do think attendance has been rebounding at most tracks-just from observation on TV.  (NASCAR stopped tracking and disclosing attendance about 5 years ago)    However, not only do I see Indy's attendance fading away dramatically, I would not doubt if 10 years down the road Indy pulls the plug on NASCAR.     The track just doesn't work for these cars.  Passing was absolutely horrible yesterday--the only passing you saw was when they were lapping.   Everyone is saying only passing was on restarts--I'll go a little farther--only passing was from the start/finish line up thru corner #1.  After that, forget it.   These cars are large, underpowered parachutes.   I did not plant myself on the couch and watch it--just kept tabs while working in the garage all afternoon.

Just a horrible example of racing.  And how can the broadcasters continue to be forced to act like it is some crown jewel event to win??????     Crown jewel events have people in the stands watching.   This is not, and has not been a big deal for over 10 years-maybe longer.

To be accurate they're just not disclosing attendance.  I guarantee you they're tracking it.    The racing could be much better, but given track configuration it probably won't.   At least it wasn't as bad as the year the tires were coming apart and they had to have a caution every 10 laps to change tires.

I attended 5 of the first 7 Brickyards.  I had a blast.  This race, I actually just got done watching it, and I watched it in about 40 minutes.  For one reason or another, NASCAR has lost me.  I won't get childish and call it NAPCAR or anything like that, that would require me to actually think about my response or statement.  EGRAS, you must not have had as much fun as me Saturday night, I was on the couch all day yesterday.     LOLOL

Oh yes--my bad.  They are definitely tracking it!  Just not letting us in on the great news!   Smile

It was definitely better than the year they had the tire issues.  I can still tune in to the last few laps but it is just amazing that no car outside of the front row has a chance to win with 2 laps to go.  ???

They built these cars to be a savings to the owners and cut the costs.  What an absolute backfire.  Bulldozers with parachutes on them.  Thats how they look trying to catch up to and pass the car in front of them.

But--I'm the idiot who still tunes in for at least the last 30 laps every week so I can bitch about it!  (Starting to sound more like my grandfather ever day)    Smile

I'm kinda like you I guess.   I rarely watch a race all the way through any more.   I watch the restrictor plate tracks and I try to watch the short tracks, but even Bristol isn't what it used to be.

Do you think Bristol at least improved the last couple of races?  It is definitely different.  15 years ago the car that could hug the bottom of the track was the winner.  Last year (or year before) they were running the wall.   It was better than about 5 years ago, but I will agree, it is different.

NASCAR made a mistake by moving the Xfinity cars to IMS from Lucas oil Speedway the racing was much better at LOS.
